2025 a year in bikes

From the family chalkboard of goals.
Gonna do some big runs: cascade likes high route, bike O of enchantments, Mt Daniel and maybe St Helens if I can get a permit

Really want to ride Canada, lord of the squirrels, Squamish stuff, whistler bike park etc…

Dad summer camp is gonna be the big push though.

in 2025 i’d like to hit my mileage goal (4,000) from last year that i came a bit shy of. i pretty much only ever track recreation/exercise rides, so no commuting or riding to the grocery store included there.

i’m also signed up to race the stagecoach 400 in early april. gonna ride it single speed. maybe aiming for a sub 3 day finish? i dunno. the section that i rode a few years ago was very hard and we were out there for 4 days and finished less than half of the course. we were rocking a leisurely pace, though, and i’m a much better mountain biker now. just gonna try to push myself as much as possible i guess!

is that “by dads for kids” or “by dads for dads” ?

I wanna check Angel’s Staircase off my bucket list this summer too, and we now have a killer place to stay near Twisp

Dad for kid.
Ira is gonna be home all summer with me and I want us to have some kind of structure to it. Like outa the house by 8:30. Some reading/art time in the PM. Different field trip each day… Duthie, hiking, bus to a new library, park day etc.

AS is very worthy all-day ride for a bucket list. I’ve done it twice (pre covid) with a base camp down by the river at the Foggy Dew site.

Can we send one of our kids to your camp too?

got motivated enough to do this. $0.83 at the hardware store. bike goal for 2025 done :white_check_mark:

next stop: start chain waxing the sup bike

eventual goal: ride again

edit: got mini slow cooker and cooked my first chain in wax :white_check_mark:

Quick link was very snug so I improvised using string and allen key, but ordered a mini plier. Vacuumed up solid wax bits and it should be good for the next few months

next stop: tune the pusher

Bike goal: stop buying the wrong fucking parts.

Goddamn you 1975 British tandem with two different sizes seatposts, one of which wasn’t labeled. Goddamn you shitty calipers.

In other news, who needs a “like new” Kalloy 26.0mm seatpost in silver?

I’ve now learned it also has witworth fasteners? Luckily they are still attached.

you’d better be growing out your mustache so you’re qualified to ride that thing

I know what those are!
