A possibly slow purge of bike stuff I no longer wish to own

Same, I went so far as to put a set in my cart on Alex’s cycle. Then my left hand spontaneously developed alien hand syndrome, slapping my right hand away from “buy”.

What’s the diff between the 601, 801 and 901 versions, other than increasingly ugly branding?

601/801 - 10 sp, finish
901 - 11sp

601/801 def work with 11 tho

601/801 was recalled at one point

I broke the cranks the way they were recalled for

Great, that was about to be my next question, thanks. What was the failure mode?

The end of the spindle that intersects the other arm will crack and split. Causes a really obnoxious clicking every rotation and it started 50k into a 300k for me

These 601s are listed as 11S on the box, polished finish, and consumed new from Braden/Endpoint. I think the year was 2017. Holy shit that seems like so long ago.

601s were not polished and were 10sp in 2014 and I have grey hair now and intend to sign up for aarp posthaste

They’re not fancy polished like a set of Campy power torque arms, but not dull like earlier 601s. Rings are not polished.

More stuff to purge.

  • M8000 XT 11-40 11-speed cassette, new: $60
  • One pair of Avid BB7 brakes w/160mm rotors, new: $60
  • One set of M8100 2-piston brakes with finned metallic pads, lightly used. Rear hose was cut near the lever to uninstall (lousy internal routing). Includes a new 2000mm BH90 hose kit and two new BH90 olive/barb sets. The front hose was trimmed and I’ll try to remember to measure that later tonight. $100

Shipping costs not included, which will most likely be USPS flat rate since I purged most of my cardboard box hoard.

Dibs on brakes.

You’re second in line right now.

Oh wait, which brakes?

Watch this space. There’s a chance I might be selling an unused set of Deore M6100 2-piston brakes soon-ish.

Sorry buddy, but they are going on 1/2 of my daughter’s bike (aka the tandem that is currently v-brake).
