Defense lawyer Zak Goldstein said he had not yet seen the criminal complaint or any reports on the crash, and called the deaths a tragedy. However, he noted that, broadly speaking, Pennsylvania law on DUI-related homicides requires “that the DUI caused the homicide.”
“If in fact it’s a failure in a self-driving or a driving system, that may not be a homicide by DUI even if the driver is intoxicated,” he said, adding that he has not seen any case law on the issue in Pennsylvania.

Doesn’t DUI usually have language about “operating a vehicle…”? Putting it into self driving mode should qualify I hope.
Back in GA I was drinking some beers next to a parked car when a cop pulled up. He told us that they’re allowed to arrest folks for DUI if the key is in the ignition while folks are drinking, even if the car isn’t running. Maybe that was a bluff though.
in Washington if you have the keys in your possession while in the car drunk they can bust you because you could drive.

This was a good one from yesterday. To the right of the frame was a guy and an assistant (his daughter?) doing a big ass project in the adjacent backyard. This guy was going to park there all damn day! I was not sneaky about taking the picture and reporting to 311. It had moved by the time I circled back 15 minutes later, and today the project was still going but he wasn’t parked in the fuckin cycle track!
I’m glad he moved but it’s like, how on god’s green earth did you think this was a place that you park??? He drove right over the fucking yellow flex post!!
