Hup, hup. Hup, hup, hup.
Yeah, CPD is next level mean motherfuckers.
Edit: a headline from today: CPD so mean that gitmo imports CPD torturers when gitmo torturers can’t handle it.
Not the first time I’ve heard the name Richard Zuley. Seems like he’s a real monster.
I had the most bizarre interaction yesterday morning.
I was rolling up to my office which is on a residential street, in the basement storefront of a courtyard building when my impulse control issues got the better of me once again and I flipped off a cybertruck coming out of an alley.
I knew I’d fucked up immediately and I could hear the driver saying “I’m gonna ask him” to his girlfriend and her begging him to let it go.
I pulled up to the bike rack in front of my office and locked up as he pulled up to the curb and jumped out of the truck, leaving the door open, chest puffed out tough guy style.
He was a fit white guy in his mid 20s with a backwards ballcap. He walked toward me and said, “Hey man, you don’t like me?”
I realized in that moment that I really really don’t want to be in a fist fight ever again.
I said “Well, I don’t know you, but I don’t like your truck and what it represents.”
He seemed taken aback and said “I’m Mark. Why’d you flip me off?”
Me: “I don’t know man, I think I was flipping off all the cameras your car is festooned with. I have impulse control issues. I’m Rudy by the way, you look like you need a hug, I need a hug, can I hug you?”
And then we hugged, and he introduced me to his girlfriend who had white girl dreadlocks and magic mushroom earrings, telling her “This is Rudy, he doesn’t agree with Tesla.”
Then he asked for another hug and we went our separate ways.
What a weird interaction, I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. I’m not sure what to make of it.
I think that ended pretty well. Yeah let’s not flip off inanimate objects which contain humans.
I’ve thought about giving cybertrucks the sig heil. Hopefully it would make the driver feel shame, but I think it would feel gross to actually do.
i’ve just been sticking my tongue out at them
i just cut them off in traffic. and when they zoom by so they can see the face of the asshole who just did that, i make a face like i have no idea where i am or what day it is.
What year is it
I don’t do anything. I don’t even look at them. I guess purposely averting my gaze is an act, but I try to not make a big deal out of it. Remember that these are objects purchased for attention-seeking. The worst thing you can do to the owner is make believe that they don’t exist.
This goes for all dumb status symbol cars, loud sports cars, etc. Sometimes with the loud cars I go “SSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHH” if given the opportunity.
Bro that would mean you were doing the sig heil
It’s sort of like using racist/sexist/homophobic pejoratives toward cis white bros because you know it will land and make them feel bad but you had to actually say it
my mom was a 6th grade teacher for 30 years and confessed to me that she felt great catharsis flipping kids off under the teachers desk lmao
This results in a vroom vroom 10/10 times right
middle school kids are the absolute worst atmo.
I wish. I don’t think I’ve ever been heard shushing in that context. YET.
I’ve been giving them a big thumbs down. Gets the point across without the blatant hostility of the finger. Plus, if they do a murder, the ‘rude gesture’ caught on camera will truly be the nail in that fascist’s coffin.
People buy Cybertrucks for attention, the best way to insult them is to completely ignore them. Really drive home the fact the person isn’t special or unique
They wanted attention, not hate… hardly anyone is a trump level sociopath so being hated or ridiculed is uncomfortable for them… I’m on board with making them feel the hate. Is it worth risking a fistfight? Probably not.
I need to retrain myself to do this instead of my reflexive yuck face. Long term, there’s nothing worse I could do to them that they won’t have done to themselves (high insurance costs, low resale value, unable to sale, future recalls, etc).
This J Mascis lookin’ guy in a Cybertruck drove by our rally for library funding and started shaking his fist out the window…we weren’t real sure if this was supposed to be in support or criticism of our cause. Later I learned that some high schoolers at the intersection were pointing and shrieking at him.
