All things NuMTB thread, now lower longer and slacker

I would prob go with a 29er. There’s a lot less 27.5 bikes around these days and most bikes in that travel range are gonna be 29.

At her height, she needs a large in ibis or santa cruz, so a Juliana is out - they only make them up to medium. I’m 5’10 and ride a large in both and can’t imagine someone half an inch shorter would want a smaller bike. I have a slightly longer leg length vs torso and if I sit on a medium, i feel like i’m perched up high and the bars are low and too close.

IMO Ibis are really nice stable pedaling bikes, which would make them a great transition from a hard tail since they feel less bouncy. Only downside is kinda bland colors (unless you like red, but i dont personally love a red bike, sorry to red bike owners).
I liked my santa cruz a lot, but def a little better pedaling platform on the ibis.

Lookin at the YT izzo - i’d also probably recommend a large in that bike unless she has a preference for a smaller bike. It does come in that pretty sick pink color (which i am not a pink gal, but would buy).

Thank you for weighing in @amy! This is awesome feedback especially in terms of the sizing - sounds like you two are similarly proportioned and making sure the front end is an appropriate height definitely seems worth the larger size.

She likes the white a little more but they’re all sold out now, so I think we’re going to pull the trigger on a large red one.

seems like this 10 pack is the only version of these pads they have in stock and it’s on close out?
will see if i can get a qbp order while they’re still in stock.

unfortunately the swiss stop varients that fit my brakes are all discontinued by qbp.

Yeah, I guess TRP is discontinuing metal pads, sticking with resin and semi-metallic. I bought 10 pack last fall, since sup has xts and i have TRPs, and the slx on the ebike now. Seemed like a pretty solid deal, and i knew I would go through them.

I’m about 5’9" and the medium mojo4 feels just about perfect (tho that’s discontinued). Agree that a Ripley would be a great match. Sup has really loved their Ripley af, gets a thumbs up

What is the ideal Shimano-compatible 4-piston caliper to buy standalone?

not XTR, mine keep cracking

Unfortunately purple is out of stock

I have no actual experience with these but I love that I could ride 5 miles from my house and pick them up.

I’d say MT520 or M640. Both have the ceramic pistons, but aren’t prone to leaking like the delryn models.

But I’m also impressed with the TRP Slate. They have stainless pistons and use the 1.9 mm rotors.

Great question

Hi guys. I want a real mountain bike. I finally have enough dollars saved up to think about something nice. Currently my top choice is something like a Norco Optic. I definitely don’t need any more bike than that considering I’ve been dundering around having fun on techy stuff with a rigid Wednesday set up 27.5+ for so long.

I was browsing PB and found this guy in my size:

Should I just buy this and not dither any more? Seems like an amazing deal if it’s actually in as good condition as it seems like.

what’s the compatibility among TRP’s new 5.0mm hoses tho

like with the TRP olive, does their hose fit a Shimano lever?

and/or does a 5.5mm Shimano hose’s banjo fit onto a TRP caliper?
