can you explain how someone broke a hip/femur xc skiing? that seems actually hard to do.
downhill icy section and he fell on his hip, over 55 and had recently undergone chemo so likely lost bone density, making him more vulnerable for a break.
He was old enough to just get a hip replacement out of it, which sounds much better than getting it screwed back together.

I finally serviced this fork because it kinda felt like doodoo when I brought the bike out after winter.

Don’t know if the fork just needed a service or whether the scratch contributed to its dilapidated state. The damper side looked perfect inside so I didn’t bother to change any seals, though I did open the damper to get all of the old oil out and then bled it.

I watched Neko Mulally’s run and they mention “rotor guards” to protect against the ruts. Most of what I found with a quick search is for transport or bikepolo. I did find these:

Bruni and probably some others have been using them at WC races for a couple of years at least. Don’t know what they are. Didn’t Shimano make a roadie version years ago, maybe for Japanese market?

I’ll inquire. I didn’t initially bite on the offer since I thought I would swap back to clips. But may be able to get a go at these before I get a chance to try OneUp clips after they fixed the issues.

Really? I love my DH- EVO brakes. No issues, barely need any upkeep compared to XTs, enough power and not on-off.
Newer pros and even last versions of regular evos fit smaller hands now.
Catching a little air at the wednesday night local race last week. Wore full face since it is the rowdiest on the South side and we had forecast of rain for what can be a sketchy trail. In the end it just kept me warm. End of a 5 minute run, so i was beat.

It looks like the hayes might be pretty hard to find without paying retail..
I wish brakes were a demo-able item, but unlikely i’d find bikes in shops with the brakes I am looking at. Would love to just put my hands on them and see what I like the ergonomics of. With 3 bikes set up with shimano right now, I don’t want to veer too far out of what my hands are used to, but feel like I’m ready to try something else.

Dominions can be found fairly discounted since like thanksgiving I think. Haven’t looked lately though. They sure feel nice in the workstand and shortening hose plus bleeding was pretty unremarkable.
Edit nm cheapest I can find now is $400 a set. I guess $300 was a good deal.
