couldn’t handle the sick skidz?

Just bent, standing up to pedal up a slight incline from a full stop. Only time I’ve had it happen before was a really bad pedal strike on a fixie that sent me OTB years ago. Wobble ankled my way a mile home and swapped it out for something equally shitty, but black and heavier, hopefully it survives, its my last POS square taper, I’d hate to have to buy something for this pile.

the backscratcher really nails the cruddy 2000’s fixie vibe. “I’d like to keep my lower back, and ONLY my lower back, completely dry while bicycling”

lol is there a cassette on the other side of that hub???

9 speed XT?

Yup, too lazy to take it off.

Perfect.

.

i envy your ability to make a truly good shitty bike and keep it shitty. every attempt i’ve ever made at “that bike” ends up being kind of nice and defeating the purpose

I’m actually trying really hard not to polish this turd. Racks and bags and fenders and a dyno and a better crankset and this that and the other all dancing through my head. Being broke helps, the fact that its maybe my lightest bike ride now helps too. Its too fun to make any more complicated.

But don’t you have a dyno wheel sitting around unused?

covers ears lalalala

I noticed my fender was rubbing this morning, took a look and saw this. Having known this was an issue, I’d been keeping an eye on the area, so it’s a bit disconcerting how close I got to totally severing the fork blade. Glad all of my teeth are still in the right place!

I’m waiting on an email back from the elephant folks for details on getting a replacement. Given how many of these things are cracking, and the potentially catastrophic nature of fork failure, I don’t understand why they aren’t doing a soft recall and preemptively replacing all of the non-unicrown forks still in the wild.

is that jawn compatible with a h/g fork?

Wowzers

Exact same as mine.

My understanding is that they are actually doing a soft recall. They’re replacing all forks, but you need to contact them with your details etc. They’re prioritising the replacing of broken forks too, so you should be at the top of the list.

they did exactly that

complicating matters, a number of luglickers are being obstinate about accepting the unicrown into their hearts and continuing to ride the original

They definitely did exactly this and I got a replacement before any catastrophe, they sent out an email and posted all over the Google group

That’s good news.

I never got an email, though now that I think about it, I think when I bought it, my contact with them was with my old work email address.
