Seems Backcountry.com found their moral compass amidst the boycott. At least they listen, but that they have to be told… https://www.outsideonline.com/2405311/backcountry-com-lawsuits-amends

Many lols

So many questions! Do they carry TP in the team car? Was he carrying wet wipes? Did the team pick up the poo after? Did he wash his hands?

I read the apology posted on their site earlier and wasn’t impressed by it. It’s good to see them actually working toward fixing the damage they’ve caused beyond just dropping the open cases. But, waiting to see how far this goes before shopping there again.

I’m gonna guess no across the board.

Maybe, but the fact they fired that law firm seems like a good way to start.

Got another email from someone at backcountry[dot]com yesterday, definitely going to reply this time and share my opinions with them.

Sorry, that was a reply to POTB chat. Edited my post to quote what I’m replying to.

“It’s important to note that we tried to resolve these trademark situations amicably and respectfully, and we only took legal action as a last resort”

we only sued people when they chose to defend their completely legitimate use of the word “backcountry” instead of immediately and completely surrendering to our highly paid corporate lawyers

“Backcountry has never been interested in owning the word “backcountry” or completely preventing anyone else from using it.”

you all have the memory of a goldfish, right? pay no attention to our previous actions

“But we clearly misjudged the impact of our actions.”

we are sorry we got caught

He is so bad at words
I read this to my editorial/comp lit/translator nerd wife and she audibly groaned:

It’s a dead horse at this point, but the blog would have been better with a copy editor in the loop. The quality of written English he is capable of is great for picture captions, and he does take nice pictures

It’s an obtuse reference, but it’s not wrong.

Prolly is always wrong.

Prolly wrong

It’s too obtuse for me, can you explain?
