I heard you and your group are ditching their front derailleurs and getting narrow wide chainrings

I’m not watching the video- why your man’s got bar ends and shakes?

He’s doing it for clicks. Cool. But def a ‘don’t need to read beyond the headline’ or ‘support this by actually clicking it.’
I mean, I get the hustle of this field, but shit is still old.
Can’t wait for the next “why I’m ditching flat pedals because they aren’t really about the party”

I watched a few of their videos but quit after “Lycra racing bad blah blah smiles per hour” was followed with “our buds at Enve were cool enough to let us check out their awesome new gravel wheelset!”

Like sure grift away, I’m not interested

bar ends and shakes?

beats me? Black gravgrav parts out out, shiny granty parts are in? They’re mechanical fop paul brakes so it’s not like he couldn’t find mechanical SS levers

Cos dangler not speaking to shifters ? Innit sharmno dangler? Edit. I can’t even reckanise that dangler. Looks like a Sram cable adjust tho.

I watched it. It’s a decent and reasonable take. It helps that it confirms my opinions on 1X

He’s no grifter either, he was uncomfortable about reviewing the ENVEs and now rejects reviews that don’t fit his goals.

We all have strong opinions about our particular use cases. I’ve actually really been digging my XC mtb setup w/ 2x again, as I use it basically like a gravel bike. After dislocating both knee caps I prefer to spin than mash, and the small steps in the cassette are appreciated. My fun mtb has 1x because the ride style and trails I hit don’t make me feel like I need/feel that granularity.

Dudes going for views, it’s his business.

well, he made the video, made the case for the qualitative value of the product, got the views, used the sponsorship to generate content, if he didn’t believe in what he was saying, how does that make him seem less grifty?

he’s figuring out as he goes along? he has a wife with cancer and is trying to figure out how to pay the rent?

cherry picking one video isn’t convincing me

sorry to hear about his wife, I don’t follow any of these lifestyle marketing people, I just catch random things that get posted around.

Be convinced or not, it’s up to you. I have nothing against people selling things, it’s been interesting watching him and his generation of touring / altbike people respond to interest in their world from more mainstream bike companies. When it gets better products out there, neat. When the pendulum swings back around to roping dopes into buying $3k wheelsets, I’m rolling my eyes at it.

Also love that a) the bike lane probably removed like two F-150 size parking spaces and b) you can see a fucking parking lot right next to the store in the background of the photo

$5 says he used to park his pick-up in front of the store, got ticketed for parking there after the bike lane went in, and is now pissed that he doesn’t have a sufficiently public place to jerk it anymore

i think its weird to get riled up about what people are doing on youtube, especially when it seems to speak joy in a group of people and especially when the maker seems to not be perpetuating harm. easy enough to not engage with.
