I think Jeff leaving had an impact. Nobody is cheerleading as hard as he did for AC.
Masi is now Haro? They made bold moves with the Rando
They’ve been the same company for years. It’s a little weird they combined the websites, but you gotta cut costs somewhere I guess.
I don’t know… from what I understand he had way more duds than wins. The Space Horse was the only real winner from his era as I understand it. Nature Boy was cool too and filled a fairly vacant niche but everything else seemed a little chaotic. Is it an urban brand? That makes steel racing bikes? WTF a track frame?
The PLP interview with Jeff is really interesting. Dude was really just winging it and convincing Q to let him follow his own interests.
But yeah… the bike market is different now. Less room for and way more competition when it comes to weirdo Maxwayprojects and Crust has a much better finger on the pulse.
ALL-CITY Log Lady discontinued LEGEND bike very rare bikepacking gravel xbiking fixie OOP steel A.C.E.
The difference between crust/VO and all city/surly is the simplicity of a complete bike. In 15 years of bike stuff I’ve only managed to convince one person (ex sup) of building a bike up from a frame. A VO campeur and she still loves it. But it’s hard to convince someone the time/effort/money is worth it. OTOH, I’ve managed to get 3 people to buy a space horse. Walking into a shop, getting fitted, and riding out on a complete for $1500 is a much easier sell.
I want to start a rumor
QBP is running massive sales to become more liquid so they can purchase the Crust Bikes brand as a transition away from the dying space horse that has been All City since 2016.
rumor seeded
i guess i should hoard a few more of the weird flimsy super pro dropouts before it’s too late
you know i think i heard about that
MINNEAPOLIS: Industry Experts Claim Crust Bikes ‘of interest’ to QBP
Continuing on for a year+ winding down reads to me like they already have a ton of excess inventory stashed somewhere and will trickle it out. I’m real curious (if true) if that’s fully built bikes, raw frames, painted frames, ?
That’s what I suspect. They said they have at least 2 years still to be around. I think they probably have another round of bikes (completes) currently being built that have yet to make their way over on the slow boat. Pure conjecture tho.
New rumor: They are in negotiation for the rights to produce the clydesdale fork, which will adorn all of the frames that are currently packed into containers. A new model, the “mall crawler” will be the result.
Big Ant has agreed to make a folding crate with classic Jeep 7-slot grill and angry eyes cutouts on the front panel.
A lot of people are saying it.
My plan is working
This is fact. There’s another full year worth of bikes in production.
Or buy a controlling stake in S?
But really… liquidate inventory, report a huge loss which is great for the taxes of Steve Flagg (and any other partners if they exist). Sell off you now leaner and cleaned up company to an investor like the Waltons who by now have also bought Specialized and now finally have a proper p&a supplier to properly support their corporate stores.
This is more likely and much darker
