Duuude I was just looking at that product page and WTF facepalm those dorks. I can’t believe they really just went with “designed for mismatched brakes and tire clearance”.
Jimmy, where is the database of rim brake road frames to look for that have at least 35mm tire clearance?
yeah, feels like that bike should have been a smash-hit with a certain crowd - a classic lugged steel/quill stem/rim brake road bike, except you can fit cushy 700C x 4* modern nerd tires instead of being limited to 25mm tires or whatever?
but the “we’re trying to pass off an obvious design/manufacturing mistake to you” thing is a bit of a turnoff, to say the least…
You just don’t get it my brake standards have DEEP LORE my brake standards are more esoteric and mysterious than OTHER brake standards. /s
Tbh I’d probably still pick one up (it does fit 35s) if it was cheap enough.
bitd it was all about what brakes would fit what frame so that you could get that sweet sweet wide rubber in there. kids these days…
Make sure to paint it green or blue to easily chromakey it out of the photo.
what does he mean by mullet brake? what makes it a mullet setup?
The term makes sense for disc front/canti rear setups. But in this case, the “party” has to be the big tire in front, right? bigger tire: more party, right? and the “business” would be the narrower tire. so it’s party in front, business in rear: at best this is a “reverse mullet” bike.
also, that frame is not cool. no matter how hard they try, it is not cool. maybe in 25 years it will be cool. but not today.

Canyon and specialized on the cool bike side? I think not.
ATMO, a significant number of those just seem like they’re tossed on randomly.
On the mountain side, yes.
ATMO the only bike on the right side should be a Brompton
Spec can sit on the border
This is a cycling Rorshach test.
Trek belongs where Giant is now, Giant belongs where Orbea is now, Cervélo belongs where where Specialized is now… I could go on.
Whole chart is too Eurocentric for me to gaf. Gonna need the Pubes version with Surly in it in multiple places.
Factor needs to be in the highest top left spot. so many of the guys locally are obsessed with Factor bikes. i don’t get it.

Speaking of Soma I’m having a hard time convincing myself I’m not going to buy a new Pescadero whenever Soma has another 20-30% off sale…

A while back, there was a scientific paper about a self-balancing bicycle model. Maybe @drwelby linked it?
