A lot of my classmates have expressed an interest in working in a prosecutor’s office for the same “make change from the inside” rationale. It’s a fine sentiment but unless they work for an exceptional DA like Krasner they’re still going to be working in a stupid, brutal system dominated and directed by law-and-order true believers who have no incentive to change and every chance to negate the do-gooders’ efforts.

Krasner is the baseline, and anyone to the right of him I consider totally unacceptable.

I meant exceptional more as in the exception, not that he’s stellar. But yeah, his approach should be the baseline for DAs.

this is a very un-japanese trait as well, which is why it’s extra strange they’re bad at it
I heard a long time ago that they got spooked when 7900/6700 came out and sucked shit at the same time the global economy crashed, and they were left with tens of thousands of unsold units, and that’s why they’ve been so conservative with everything since then. Don’t know if that has any basis in reality, but it sounds plausible.
Getting one product out on time is hard enough
I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to get a groupset of products out all at the same time
Especially if it’s all innovative new stuff, not just trickle-down tech they already know how to make
What’s worse
Losing money because you pushed a project and didn’t quite get it done it time
Or losing money because you took the time to do it right, and had to wait til next season to release

fwiw Shimano’s warehouse caught on fire and kinda ruined everything. like my shop is ORDERING bikes with ultegra hydro groups and pulling the shifters bc we’re having a hard time getting them from shimano
the XTR thing is so bad that SCOTT straight cancelled all of their US XTR bikes for the 2019 model year
