One of the few Firefly bikes that’s actually interesting and well proportioned. Lowkey looking for something similar, though I don’t need thru axles or 40mm. I’d be happy with 30 or 32.

No brakes is dumb but our northern Michigan “gravel” is always sandy and I’ll say that the fixed gear plows you through the sand patches really well and I really dig it.

I know this route, region.
There are reasonable stops and a fair amount of traffic so when they inevitably run out of water or their spokes break or tires disintegrate they’ll be able to catch a ride.
I mean it’s a cool reason to post some photos of a beautiful place.
This area is getting hit with lots of Chinese propaganda and development (not like it hasn’t already been by different geopolitical forces for centuries…) and western influences are currently welcome.
Something I can’t emphasize is how dry this place is. I’d like to see other accounts of bike tours in the region.

there was a week a bunch of years ago where we ended up in the same place as lou reed and laurie anderson like three times. gf was weirded out that lou was wandering in around in khakis and a flannel shirt and a weird vest, similar vibe on different days. years later I think after he died we saw her doing a bit about the time they went on a photo safari and how much he loved his safari outfit and kept wearing it afterward. we looked at each other and lost our shit.
