Was NOS 14 years ago
Used to have campagnolo on it FYI
Built using NOs parts then used. That means the parts are no longer N, right? Just OS
Peak boomer
“I don’t need to sell” then ffs why list it. And then to continue reducing the price. That thing is going to end up in an estate sale for 10-20% of the list price
This is what’s called an emotional support listing for an emotional support bike
$750 shipping is the real wtf
Oh it’s that australian guy. Yeah half the reason his stuff is so expensive is because he needs to get it shipped there first, then shipped back out. lol Mig call him out on the NOS inaccuracy
I can only imagine this sort of pie-in-the-sky listing is going to accelerate as pretty much every boomer stops riding in the next 10-15 years.
Recently went on an underbike with my cantilever cx bike where an eMTBoomer struck up a convo when I stopped him riding the wrong way down the trail, and asked me how much I thought this Seven CX (or maybe it was a Moots) that he had at home and had paid “like 8-grand for BITD” would be worth today?
I don’t know much about Ti prices so I just guessed at maybe $1500? And he seemed so put off either by my obvious ignorance or the number itself he just said “huh” looked at my bike for a bit more and then whirred off. I felt dumb so I checked when I got home and that’s in the ballpark for a 15+ year old Ti cantilever cyclocross bike.
And now, typing this all out, I have become the boomer.
I did that with my fatbike when I first listed it. It was carbon! Carbon frameset, custom carbon wheels, carbon bars! And Salsa was still selling the same model, so it’s still top of the line!
Then I realized I was just being dumb, cut the price in a third, and exactly one person contacted me and bought everything. (That’s when you know you set the perfect price.) Now it’s living its best life in a place where they get ~2-3 meters of snow per year.
Might tack a couple more years on that estimate, the boomer roadies where I live all appear to be very into TRT (perhaps, maybe, who knows, R’ing some T they never had in the first place)
they’re not S either, just O
yeah, whole lotta those boomer $ getting channeled to pharma
Bikes depreciate by around 50% when you walk out of the shop and throw it drive-side-down into your car
lolol.
Backed. Source: live in a fancy-bike town and I volunteer at the (nonprofit fundraiser) swap meet/bike sale for the past few years.
Selling shit is so terrible. My kids are going to be too big for the box bike after next summer and I would honestly rather give it away than try to wring 1500 out of someone for it.
Giving away 2 non-running motorcycles was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made
I sold our box bike for well under market to a friend of a friend who I knew would use it. Worth taking the loss just to get rid of it.
Unexpected burst of activity this month
Need any old junk from Europe? With interesting stuff from the USSR. I think this is the same guy that had a carbon fiber wheel from Mikoyan-Gurevich, the firm that makes Russian fighter jets.
Someone cloned the Vintage-Trek site! (I think I recognize the name from ibob list or maybe classic-rendezvous)
That’s Skip. He’s been around for a long time. He’s a ibob mod and a super nice guy. I bought a Serotta from him locally last year.
