Bike Products Which Exist, But Which One Wishes Did Not

The website could use some work.

I have an electric pump for my moto that shuts off at a set psi and was way cheaper than that thing

You could also get a CO2 inflator and like 20 cartridges.

Or a paintball gun CO2 tank

get into that 500psi fatbike lifestyle

what’s a good full size frame pump? I Tarckbro’d the Silca luxury version but I’m not that impressed. What’s the real deal?

the closest currently made equivalent to the oldschool silca impero is the SKS VX, which is Dutch bike standard

cheap as hell
light as a fart
leverless chuck
LARGE inner bore diameter – good for inflating fat, low pressure tires in fewer strokes, not too fun to use above 60psi

The two Topeak frame pumps I’ve had have been fine. Not exactly light, but they get the job done. Sometimes a single wrap of tape is needed on the pump body under the handle to keep rattles down.

These guys are literally selling a rope.

Don’t try to cut a rope with shit designed to cut metal. Got it.

this is unbelievably stupid
perhaps the stupidest bike i have ever seen

I was talking in another forum with a friend of the creator
The bike in the video is more like a working prototype. They know it has a long way to go.
I think the wheels are very very cool

Yeah except that removing pneumatic tires is going to be a huge hump to solve

I like it and wish it were more feasible.

Yes there is a bunch of clever bracketry and sliding/folding/clamping things going on with the wheels.

But I am very suspect of the obsession with typical wheel size, when the compromise is non-pneumatic tires with a split joint that hits the road 3x every revolution. If you’re going to compromise ride and roadholding I have a hard time seeing how this has any advantage over just using 16" or 20" wheels.

Other criticism (I get it’s a prototype and idea demonstrator)

  • Stays and fork blades need to have 3x tire width clearance.
  • Tire width seems like it is limited by the wheel collapse mechanism.

Interesting, but personally I would not futz with something that takes nearly two minutes to fold/unfold if it’s gonna be done twice per day. Standing it that way also doesn’t really look stable.

Bromptons would be a better option for most and have some integrated cargo tricks.

Quick release tires, what hell hath 2020 unleashed upon us?

TC I think it’s kind of neat in a really weird way

Slightly related, tuckt.bike is available

Folding bikes make me realize why electronic scooters / skateboards / monowheel things are so popular among the masses for multimodal travel where you need to minimize for portability and storage.

How is a Brompton not better in every way?

A brompton is bigger, weighs more, costs a lot more, and if you’re tootling along a few blocks a scooter offers a lightweight, fast, safer than skateboard ped augmentation without having to spend the bucks on a bike.

I definitely see the use-case for folding adult scooters and while they don’t really apply to me I’m sometimes a little jealous.

Can you imagine how filthy your hands would get folding and unfolding a bike multiple times a day? Why is nobody making a wet wipe dispenser saddle bag for folding bikes?

i think the adult scooter is a FINE idea. what i don’t understand is how this Tukt bike is better in any way than a brompton.
the airless tires alone are a TDB

To be fair, every single Brompton I have put between my legs has felt like it had airless tires. Felt like I was riding a jackhammer on any urban surface that wasn’t completely smooth.
