Bike shop owners/employees: What're the odds of leveraging your employment to pull off a QBP GB?

so going around local bike mechanics is fine, bike shops not so much

Like I said earlier service is rarely a lucrative business and I am just as happy to sell someone a tool and give advice as I am to charge them to do it.

NO

SELLING TOOLS IS RIPPING THE FOOD OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF MECHANICS

my point is that your argument that going online to buy things is wrong because it hurts store owners is no different than the argument that selling tools is bad because it hurts mechanics. or for a more realistic example, that selling mass produced foreign bikes is bad because it hurts local builders.

the truth of the matter is, people who know what they need are going to get things online when they can get a much better deal just like people who don’t need mechanics will do a lot of the repairs themselves.

if you think your bike shop is doing a public service you should solicit donations and stop giving people shit for being smart consumers.

(that said, i often make a point to support my local bike shops by buying things there in addition to the things i buy at online stores/ebay. but self-righteous rants about going past shops for certain things being “bullshit” are fucking stupid.)

your argument is bad because it equates mechanics with bike shops, which is ridiculous. I hear dicks make you better at posting, why don’t you go eat some?

you have a very poor understanding of a shop financial system.

to make it extremely easy for you to understand, the mechanic’s financial success does not rely on how much work he put in on repairs and tune ups, but rather how well the shop as a whole, my guess- particularly sales does, since he’s probably getting paid hourly or salary. your comparison is retarded. The more the shop makes, the more the mechanic gets paid. The more shit the mechanic works on, the more beer he gets.

you all are nitpicking a dumb point i was making about tools, read the rest of the post.
