I’m considering throwing a pair of risers and mtb levers on my Cannondale from time to time just to mess around. There’s no real point, just seems interesting.
I totally understand foregoing brifters since they weigh a lot and offer minimal utility on a non-racing bike, but your argument makes it seem as though brifters are the only option when using drops, and that’s obviously not the case. Drop bar levers are cheap and plentiful.
I used to run my old Centurion Iron Man with bullhorns, downtube shifters and bar end brake levers for awhile because I wanted a change from drops. The frame was not really the right size so it wasn’t completely comfortable after a longish ride time but I would do the same set up again on a better fitting frame.
There’s a bike I see around here every once in a while with horns, aero levers, and 1 bar end shifter. It’s a pretty slick setup.
I think a 1x9 cx setup would be boss with horns, aero levers and one bar end. So space aged.
Sounds good, except I don’t know why you would run one cross lever and one TT lever.
I’m way too OCD to handle that anyways.
Well, the original idea was to crop some Stratos (just a couple inches off the horn), put a shifter in each end, and run cross brakes on the tops.
The asymmetrical setup for the Fuji is only a result of what I have in the parts bin, namely one cross brake, two bar end brakes, and one bar end shifter.
