I’m not sure if he was serious about the skitching, but maybe?
I finished before him because I knew I couldn’t hit the last two checkpoints in 20 minutes so took the DNF. He took a very similar route to my planned route and rolled in shortly after I did. I was really impressed then while he was warming his hands on the pallet fire he admitting to skitching 3 different hills, twice holding on to cars and 12th ave by skitching on the First Hill Streetcar
Well, alright then!
Pretty sketchy skitchy if you ask me but it’s not my skin.
Yeah, I don’t think there is any rules in alleycat racing so I thought it was a pretty cool way to win. Dude is also a very fast cyclist and really nice guy to hang out with.
Skitching is fair game in an alleycat atmo. As for Strava, the bigger issue is when folks keep recording on the drive home. But that’s stravas problem, not mine.
I have 4 KOMs on strava. 2 of them are on the light rail, one is legitimate on a section that nobody ever rides, and the other one is when my wheel exploded and caught a ride home in a car.
I’m not gonna trim them either.
Don’t you have to have a pain subscription to be able to edit rides? I ain’t gonna pay for Strava just to fix rides I don’t care about.
I would be much more likely to crop Strava rides if the tool was available on the phone app but since its only available on desktop site I often forget.
TC I had to look up ‘skitch’
If anyone truly cares, they can flag your ride for review and it gets dropped from the lb.
I got a 7th on one of the longer segments descending Alpe d’Huez so I went back gunning for it. Aside from that, I like the personal leader board for segments I ride a lot. Had a trail near my old house with hundreds of entries from me and I had a lot of fun turning my lungs inside out chasing that PR.
Until a few weeks ago, I had one KOM on a popular stretch of road that I would frequently flag because it would be beat by someone going 42 MPH. And no, you don’t need a paid subscription to edit rides, or at least you didn’t a year or so ago.
Haven’t gotten on to Strava, happy on RWGPS
Was Cade based out of Milwaukee/ride for Pegasus originally?
I came to terms with my directional insanity and finally picked up a Garmin, which now feeds that sweet, sweet data directly into Strava and subsequently discovered the Tarck group for bragging about Cat 6 wins and Tarck centuries.
I think skitching in an alleycat is fine. Kind of goes with it being an alleycat
This is the 2007 truth.
I just don’t understand why someone would care - there’s tons of segments that I’m like 2nd or 3rd on and the 1st woman is doing 50mph up a hill…clearly recording from a car, but like you can see that and you know that you really “won” if that matters to you and everyone else who looks at that leader board knows too. It just seems dumb to care about getting the gold star when the data is clearly visible anyway.
There’s a Strava tarck group?!?!
For me Strava is just a habit. I like recording my miles. I’m
Happy to be in the top 30% of any given segment.
