We need an independent ear on this one. I feel very strongly about this observation.
Repeat after me. “Scotty from marketing says he’s not going to change his views on sending criminals back to NZ”. And upload the file to SoundCloud for further analysis !

Fuck I hate our prime minister.

People hate ours too. It’s difficult to make real changes with a coalition govt. You’d think Labour /Greens would work, but it’s the other crew who are the fly in the ointment.

I would do anything to have an actual human like Jacinda as pm. Ours is just a lying shitcunt with literally zero redeeming qualities.

Hard call for the Tour Aotearoa riders still out there. Unessential travel is strongly discouraged.

I’ve always joked that if shit went down I would load up my bullitt and ride off into the wilderness. Half joke, half reality of living in the cut on an earthquake rattled peninsula.

With the shit going down currently the topic came up again but I realized now is the perfect time to actually fuck off into the woods for a week. The question is: Do I take the Clydesdale or do I take the Bullitt?

Clydes has better touring geometry and cockpit setup. The bullitt is setup pretty aggressive for messenger work.

The clydes will be easier to poach camp because it’s easier to walk trails or push through the woods. But if you’re poaching the bullitt comes with a built in seat and/or table! Also the bullitt can carry a lot more, including someone else’s gear if need be. Or for this week, a shitload of beer and whiskey.

And the most important possible point. If I’m cosplaying and actual bugout situation I will be riding the bullitt so wouldn’t it make sense to try it out once?

Go big or stay home. Swap cockpit before you go?

Bullitt for sure.

Omnium is almost set up for touring - I’d like a new rear wheel that isn’t carbon. I’ve got a rear rack and panniers, I’m looking for a front drybox and then a couple duffles for light stuff.

Not really poopbarning but couldn’t find an appropriate topic.

Ive been following this guy @ubartholomoes on IG since one of the early transcontinentals where I’m pretty sure he rode a full on TT bike and had a lot of fun on the off-road sections. These days he’s pretty sharp and the other day he won the Transiberica Ultra despite toasting his dangler and losing 19 hours or something rediculous. He reckons this latest event, the Badlands event -725 kms has some big hitters, an Olympian and some ex pros. The only one I recognised was Alistair Brownlee. I just found last year’s results and Lachlan Morton was light-years ahead of the next guy. I wonder if they even take sleeping gear for a 43 hour ride… Scenery looks epic.

Veleta pass is no joke, I hiked up it 12 years ago. It’s kinda neat for cycling because it’s the highest paved road in Europe and closed to vehicles at the top.

It looks fecking amazing to me, not being exposed to any desert-like terrain myself. I am wondering if the ex pro roadie who had a massive lead has blown his foo foo. His tracker looks to be greyed out. Also wondering if Alistair Brownlee had any problems… Plenty of things to go wrong eh.
Edit: nahp, ex pro roadie won. Tracker failure.

The organiser of the Tour Te Waipounamu, Brian Alder, is doing the Highland Trail 550 this year. It will be interesting to see how he goes. Its supposed up there with the hardest events. Looks pretty horrible to me. Could be cold AND wet!

I thought this was a pretty good story. Not sure how excited I would be about riding through bogs tho!
