OH GOD OH GOD…

no foot retention…

I’m not going to read the article, but the illustration shows that at least one person knows what they’re talking about.

Every other newspaper ran their fixed-gear story about 2 years ago.

This one, at the end, gets incredibly preachy about how stupid brakeless riding is:

“CRASH - WHEN NOT IF”

Sounds like someone from BF wrote it.

Wait…there arent even any spoke cards in the rear wheel.

49x10 FTW

holy hell I like mashing but that is a recipe for knee’asplosion

Chicago’s about 2 years behind the rest of the world.

Nice avatar.

When I read this, I thought that the article might end OK:

“Bike federation officials stress there are more serious threats to public safety than brakeless bikes, such as riding at night without lights. They argue the hazard is reckless riding—not the type of bike.”

But then they went ahead and said this:

"Most experienced cyclists try to reduce the already-sizable dangers by installing at least one brake on such bikes, he said.

“In the end,” he said, “brakeless fixed-gear bikes belong on the velodrome and nowhere else.”"

thats just fair and unbiased news reporting. showing both sides perspective.
but i do think chicago is awesome because it is 2 years behind everything. less trendy shit. more down to earth.

If you don’t like trendy shit, why are you riding a tarckbike?

Jesus Christ.
I’ve met this guy:

A couple times. He’s a jackass.
Not surprised to see him in that video though.
He obviously knows what f!xie riding is all about.

Er, you thought that was a serious question?

Shit is that chicago?? looks like things have changed up a bit.

I have only ever seen one bike without brakes where I live.

Maybe only five fixed gear bikes.

Lots of single speed conversions with only a front brake though.

But then I don’t really have a “bike crew” or whatever so I probably am missing a lot.
