Went to the team sponsor PT place today
The culprit appears to be a tight IT band on my right side
got some myofascial release, hurt so good
gotta follow it up with lots of foam rolling and hip flexor stretches
back to the fitter this weekend hopefully
Just so we’re clear, the IT band doesn’t get “tight” nor can it be “stretched”. It has insertions into the gluteus maximus and the tensor fasciae lata. You can relieve tension by stretching those muscles and also massaging along the length of the biceps femoris and the vastus lateralis.
The IT band doesn’t change in length. The tension comes from the muscles that it attaches to or slides over. If one’s TFL is shortened from sitting all day, for example, that might manifest itself in an injury on the lateral side of the knee.
Anyone recommend any literature or youtube videos for getting the correct location for mounting your shimano SPD cleats short of a professional fit.
I should probably get a pro fitting but not sure I’m ready to dive in that pool yet.
^ that link? wtf? so much blabbering shit going on.
Just mark your 1st and 5th metatarsal on the outside of your shoe. Loosely put your cleat on, grab a ruler and hold it across the marks on your shoe, line the center of the cleat up with the center of those lines. If you need to, use a ruler to mark the center of the cleat, but it’s pretty easy to eyeball.
Then grab next shoe and repeat.
Almost no rotation in SPD-style cleats so you dont need to worry about that.
This style of cleat fitting works for 90% of people.

in anatomy, “insertions” are generally into bone. TFL and gluteus insert via a common tendious band known as the iliotibial tract. It is named as such because it originates (via the muscles listed earlier) at the ileum and inserts in the tibia via their common tendinous structure (IT tract or band)
The IT band is considered a tendon and inserts into the tibia.

73 seat angle
73.5 head angle
14 cm HT + HS combined (1" so quill will add a couple cm at least)
53 cm ST
58 cm TT
7.5 cm BB drop
3.75 cm fork offset
Color me unimaginative enough to be troubled with whether this has a snowballs chance of fitting. My 56 square bikes all need a straight post and 140 stems with medium reach bars to account for the monkey arms sprouting from my shoulders. The two angles and ht height are a wash across the board.
I wish I had a bike with a 74 st. Constant struggle to get enough weight over the rear tire.
That is a frame I found for what could be a steal if it is usable. I’m afraid the saddle to bar drop would put my elbows into the pedaling arc.
74 degrees puts less of your weight over the rear wheel.
I want to try shorter for the incoming road bike.
170?
It seems my leg dimensions are almost identical to crabbinate on here except his are like 4x stronger and mine are fatter cos sloblife.
Going to get my meds adjusted to maybe fix fat life.
