Convince me to get or not to get a cheap BMX bike

i’m building up a haro x2, an old one. i painted it.

it’s this one

(it was free from a garage sale)
i’m switching out the cranks and wondering what’s a good cheap crankset and chainring. i wanna run 25:9.
what’s like, the sugino messenger of bmx cranksets?

does that have a cassette? wont be able to go down to 9 without one.

and FYI dans comp is the ben’s of the BMX world

casette? the freewheel just threads on iunno

as opposed to freewheel. seeing how that haro has a one piece crank i would assume that it doesnt, which means that if it has a flip flop hub the lowest you can go is 13t in the rear, if it doesnt have a flip flop the lowest you can go is 16t or possibly 15t

damn edits.

is it a flip flop hub?

and yea i’ve known about dans. i think it’s like the only good online shop. like the ccs of bmx.

i was looking at this

poverty carmi cranks

looks like everything i need right now, crankset and bb.

Holy shit, I had a Haro Master when I was 14 or something. Wow. That was like a twenty-something yea… a long time ago.

Also, I bought a chain from Dan’s, they sent me a catalog. There’s a world of funky BMX parts out there.

they would do the trick. not super nice or anything.

and since it has a once piece now, you are going to need a conversion kit to run three piece which means you will need a euro bb, not american

euro?

i have a crankset from another haro. it’s a 3 piece from a newer version of that bike.

euro is what is on your track bike. threaded cups. american are press fit.

and you will still need a conversion kit to make that three piece work

but those carmi’s are american. the 1pc that i took out has press fit cups. i thought it would just pop right in…

haha you might actually be right. i was getting really excited. hadnt talked BMX talk in awhile.

now i feel like a jackass thinking i know everything…

i tried riding one of those modern BMX’s with the seat slammed all the way down a couple of weeks ago. my knees screamed at me for the next couple of days afterwards. i do’t see how you folks do it.

generally you dont sit. part of my motivation to start riding adult sized bikes

tx does that haro have a flip flop or single sided hub?

single i think i can check

yea single. 16t right now.

16t is gonna be as small as you can go then

cheap cassette wheel.

but you will also need a driver to get to 9t

bawwww
so what a flip flop hub has 2 sizes of threading? what’s the bigger one?
