Craft sale! Russ goes to grad school

Hey Tarck, I’m moving to Rhode Island to start my MFA next month and I’m selling my stock of pottery to make room for new work. These are what got me in to school: 3d-printed porcelain made with custom software, trimmed by hand on the wheel. You all have seen these from the beginning, so I wanted to give you first dibs.

There is natural & deliberate variation between each cup. No two are the same. Where the color is consistent I’ll just post one image, and where the color is variable I’ll try to grab each one.

All of the high-gloss pieces are made by coloring the porcelain itself, covered with a clear glaze.

10oz. cups are $50 each. They’re good for a big cup of coffee or tea.
6oz. cups are $40 each. They’re good for a small cappuccino or glass of wine.
2oz. cups are $30 each. They’re good for sipping espresso or mezcal.
Pourover funnels are $40 each. They fit a Hario 01 filter, and a pack of filters is included.

$10 shipping for one thing, free shipping for two or more things

DM me if you’d like something and I’ll cross it off the list. I’m headed to Las Vegas for work Monday afternoon, and I can make a trip to the post office on my way out of town. Otherwise, I’ll be back on the 28th and can ship then.

On top of that, I made a pinch pot every morning for 6 months. I have a few left. They’re good for small drinks, keys, a little succulent, etc. They’re $30 each. They’re strange to drink from and probably won’t sit flat. Most of them are signed on the bottom. Some aren’t.

I’ll swoop one of the pourovers! DM incoming

I’ve already sent a dm

I would like a GREEN pourover and an in depth description of your process. These are 3D printed and hand finished?

They are! The first step is preparing the clay. I use dry clay, hydrate it to a paste (wetter than throwing clay, drier than slip), and de-air it. That’s loaded into the printer and driven through via a combination of air pressure (coarse feed) and mechanical screw (fine feed). The printer follows a path defined by software I wrote, with a lot of tweaking to arrive at a good shape.

It dries just like any other clay, and once it’s dry enough I trim everything on the wheel. The cups are trimmed at the rim and the foot. The pourovers don’t need much, just a touchup around the rim.

The glaze was a bit of a trick to figure out, since it needs to fill the space between the layers without running completely off the rim. There are some great books I can recommend if you want to start mixing your own.

Everything that’s been ordered is shipping out today. Thank you all!

Plenty left, too
