Craigslist/ebay/etc finds

Very cool, just emailed them. Seems right up our alley except not sure I love the centerpulls or bar setup. Colorway on point tho

Those brakes have my Spidey sense tingling… IRDs?

I don’t know of many models of mtb centerpulls other than a shimano xt. What do you have on yours?

Seller emailed saying there’s one person in front of us, anyone here?

Whats the deal with that fork. Looks like a potts

Mine has a first edition 990 on the front and I think a Shimano on the rear.

Are the posts/spacing the same? Like, was it designed that way?

Rodriguez generally makes their own brakes. Hard to tell on this one, but seems likely

Yeah, it came stock with the 990s but a previous owner removed the rear one (unfortunately since they’re collectible now) and just used the rear drum. I ditched the drum (kmcdon has it now) and put on a u-brake from my stash, which now that I look at photos (the bike is still in the moving van) the rear is a no-name BMX brake.

Never seen those, but those brakes sure look like they have the IRD springs…

Thank @chazzwazzer/tarck, we has the tandem.

Yes it has ird roller jawns

good grab. Phil Freewheel hub? I’m curious to see the original stems.

Edit: does it have a SHARK FIN?

Phil hubs, I assume fw, all suntour so I doubt cassette. Threaded on the nds for drag brake I guess?

The stems are very cool, will post when we get home

Yes shark fin

This thing is in pretty incredible condition

Those brakes alone are probably worth $400.

I’m guessing from the pixels that the front is a Progressive (standard U brake) and the rear is a Rotary (kind of like a roller-cam).

Thank Tarck Bear!

Holy shit I was going to call in the morning since I’m working in Woodinville. Great score.

Exactly, the rear/roller also has what looks like a Rodriguez-made stiffener/chain suck guard. Braking is pretty good but unfortunately no drag brake. Ceramic rim tracks look very lightly used

I’d fire sale those brakes real quick if it was a standard post we could throw some v brakes on

Will post some pics in the tandem thread as we get it set up

meh, we’re gonna keep these unless they give us a lot of issues but overall would probably rather have v brakes. is u brake boss spacing/position even standardized?

i think everything should be fine if we (I) keep dithering to minimum with all these beyond dead ender components

yes the centerpull bosses are standardized around the original Dia-Compe 990

if you had V-brakes you’d need booster arches to keep the bosses from twisting

V-brakes would also make ever using drop bars a pain

Meh, just an old c’dale roadie with…Bullseye cranks and T/A rings?!?
