Holy shit this thread is great. Original designer pipes up, dispels some myths, then…there are a couple of real gems. I wish there was more to read, or that someone equally knowledgeable had started more back and forth but it just kinda peters out.

I was looking at some in situ photos of that desk and it just sat at reception at street level at that building. I feel like if I walked by there and saw somebody sitting at it, I probably would have assumed it was made of plastic or resin or something.
Gehry apparently loved the building that it’s in and was part owner of the thing.
