Definitely know some Navy air folx and they get the good drugs issued as pills.
Taking an electric bakfiets (this model) on the swift campout this weekend. Debating what ridiculous comfort item I should fill the box with.
I was just thinking that I would LOVE to bring a full size pillow bike camping.
A Le Creuset dutch oven.
An inflatable kiddie pool
An extra battery?
now we’re talking some sense.
300 cans of bud light lime.
One of those double height queen size air matresses, big charcoal bbq, emotional support turkey
Inflatable raft and a dog.
Full size toilet!
Halfway through the #SwiftCampout. Brought the dumb sundeal. It’s been a pretty perfect bike for this type of thing. I’m a little nervous about loading up the basket though. Luckily Marley rode an electric cargo bike and took all of our heavy stuff. Hung out a little with people from Blue Lug who maybe are here just for this ride.
perfect Juneuary weather too
and now they’ll think we all bike camp like Surly employees
This is the absolute raddest shit
It was tons of fun. Though some upgrades need to happen. On one long descent I thought I could smell the brakes, but I assumed it was something else. On the way home it happened twice and I considered walking any more steep downhills. Luckily the hill dropping I to issiquah was the last.
The trip was fun. On the way out we ran into the back of a big group and hung with them the whole way. Nice mellow pace and some fun roads. Camping was good but the spot we chose was a little tight and we had to squeeze the tents together a little. Played frisbee and ate pizza and had a good night’s sleep.
It started raining in the night and kept misting in the morning. About an hour before the group left to head home, I realized I needed some more food so I went into town and ate some pancakes. I was timing it perfectly to catch the group as the left, but I got a flat. When I made it to the place I knew they were heading out from, they were gone.
I tried to get in touch with some folks because I didn’t really have any idea where I was and didn’t know what route they are taking. But I got no response. Some other cyclists kindly pointed me in the direction of where they saw a big group, but I never caught them. Marley messaged me back an hour or so later, but by that time I’d taken a different route home. I took some interesting routes and probably climbed hills I didn’t need to. Found some beautiful roads that I want to go ride again on a proper bike.
Looks like Tolt McDonald park? Tons of great riding in all directions out there. I probably would have gone out there myself, but Swift Campout and my wife’s birthday are the same weekend. Looks like it was a fun time.
Yeah, it was. Fun place. It was a good experience. But I think I’ve found that I enjoy things like this more with smaller groups. Though that could be said about nearly all social things that I do.
I hear you - I usually go by myself
