Cross talk. Talk Amongst Yourselves.

Good times at the single speed races today. One of my teammates started 91st and finished 21st. Could maybe have been mixing it up up front if he’d had a good start position.

So much fun y’all. If you have the chance to have Nationals within an hours drive of your house, I strongly suggest that you do

Currently watching women’s livestream. Thankfully you can just scroll back on the USA Cycling feed to watch it.
Also enjoyed both single speed races yesterday. Strum’s two bike setup with different gearing was choice.

Yeah I’m excited to catch up tonight

That means even more when it comes from under a mustache.

Holy shit Compton’s pass on the first downhill. I was right there when it happened and the difference between “top quality American racer” and “world fucking class” was never more clear. Someone needs to make a gif of it.

Also, did y’all see the tv coverage was showing Compton’s name as “Katie F.N. Compton”?

Yes, I loved that name display.

And that pass was rad.

Still bummed for Kerry Werner.

yeah same. i haven’t really read the news, but did he get hurt when he crashed? he looked super weak from that point forward.

I don’t think he was. Probably just gutted as he saw his chances fly by. You need some MVDP strength to crawl back the US TT champ and others.

He makes no mention of the crash or anything.

25:55 is the crash.

Holy shit! Sint Niklaas women’s race yesterday was amazing and both Namur races today are amazing!

Need a VPN for freedom viewing Namur, but it’s on GCN Racing. Iceland works.

Holy hell! This Namur race keeps getting better right when I thought it was over!

Yeah, real solid weekend of pro cross stuffs. Thought today’s mens was going to be meh, as it looked like course was getting a bit easier, but shit the rain kept going.

Wout is back!
Interesting track with some tricky ruts and holes they can’t see.

Worlds course, discuss.
I’m pretty interested to see how this works out with the fast people on it. Having raced many a day on a flat plain with whatever could be found to make it twisty/interesting, this looks like the same situation except with plenty of money for flyovers and some handy dirt piles around. Euro folx know what they are doing, so I’m intrigued.

Pretty fn boring. Bumpy right now, but will be smoothed out by race day.

Guess Arkansas will look majestic in comparison.

I disagree. Which is weird because I hate flat courses. Atmo, it’s gonna be a slog on the bumpy flats but those dirt piles are gonna be a combo-breaker. Some good spots to cause chaos. Folks whined about last year’s flat course with short steep climbs and I thought those races were pretty interesting.

I’ve seen rad courses become boring and boring courses become rad. Elite men is gonna be a snooze regardless.

snap into a Slim Jim!

Still a boring course. Some of the punchy up and down will shake things up, but they didn’t seem to make full use of those dirt mounds. It won’t be a group sprint for any race, but, still, with the mountains nearby, maybe not hold it at an airport.

I feel like they used the dirt mounds pretty well.

Also, anyone see the Dutch Nat’l Champs? So twisty, 5’ kickers on every corner, stupid boring spiral. Excellent racing.
