Dammit: Post your bike

I hope not, because then it wouldn’t be a bespoke fop chariot™ anymore.

Happy Pride, nerds.

I ran out of puff at 2am before I could tie the left brifter into the network, tape the bars, and adjust the shifting.

di2 wiring is nice and waterproof, but terrifyingly expensive, so what I’ve been doing is cutting the di2 wire segments in half and splicing them to 2-conductor wire left over from one of my many dynamo lights, then using micro-jis connectors to tie everything together at the bottom bracket:

It’s a pretty tight squeeze fitting a BB shield into the BB shell with all of this wiring; I need to insert the shield by itself, then screw the cups in so they’ll pick up the shield and shove all of those wires (the junctions are pulled up inside the downtube) up to the top of the shell.

Given any luck it will only be half an hour or so to finish up, and then I can take this thing – donut holder and all – out for a test ride tomorrow.

Have to futz with the front brake hose and bleed it still, but stoked to have my new process together. I wanted a purple 111 when it came out, but didn’t think I was tall enough for a 29er, stoked to see how it feels

Whoa. Nice. Love that purple. And the spokes.

I should get mine back together. That looks fun.

Big dumb rides require dumb bike mods. Will likely post better photo when done

Until then… have this terrible one.

Sweet. I was wondering when those pictures would show up. The bluelug folks were very nice.

I wish I could have been sitting down and looking all cool, but that was at the top of a half mile of 7% climb where I’d maxed out my gearing in the first 200ft.

Naw naw, this is much cooler. You like Pantani on lil wheels.

It is pretty fuckin weird to see the face of a kid (who was a little shit) who I was in the scouts with with 1) a grey beard 2) as a bike guy and 3) he’s one of the faces of a bicycle cool guy brand We’ve both grown up a lot since then.

Need to figure out what’s causing the chainring runout. Maybe the rings bent…

Lots of sidepull clearance. Fenders would make sense or larger tires or both

Looks good, let the brake dithering begin

How much chainring wobble is there? Maybe you should use Biopace instead :-)

Then they will have wobble in two directions!

Definitely visible runout.

Looks goooood

I came into some birthday moneys. What crankset do I get from Mr Bezos?

I tend to go square taper but I don’t have to.
I have two bikes that need a crankset. I can probably make due with a 50/34 on my grav grav bike OR use that on the OrcBike…

OrcBike is 10speed, probably doesn’t matter that my 50/34 crank is 11spd?
Other bike is 11speed so…
