I’m partial to the Turbo Pro in that price-way for speedy tires or seconding @frank_doktor rec of the roubaixs for something a little tougher.
Or you could drink half a bottle of wine and drill out the back of the brake bridge
half bottle? save the other half to celebrate?
$5 says that the recessed/nutted combo was to keep that BOM short on the items that cost actual money
What is the current tarck pick for 700x28 road tire that won’t break the bank? I would fall back on paselas but I’m sure you guys would have a better pick. <50$ each.
It has steel bead luganos on it now. Yuck
Probably end up putting 42cm soma hwy 1s or velo orange shallow drops. Any preferences there?
The Gravel King 28s are a bit like Paselas–I like the former but haven’t used the latter, could anyone chime in?
Are GP4K2s still available from abroad?
Don’t inflict panaracers on yourself.
Unless it’s like a religious flagellation thing.
Then torture yourself all you want.

I have a set of GP5000 28s you can have for cheap if you are interested. i found that 25s fit better so they are basically unridden.
Rudy what was your negative experience with panaracer? I only ask because I have sold and installed a ton of the current gravel king slick and SK versions with zero issues on my end or the customers.
In my experience riding GP4season and GP4k for many years, the GP4k was just as durable, rode better, and was faster. In 10 years of roadie stuff I didn’t see any increase in flats when I stopped putting on “training tires” in the off season.
Make every ride special.

Definitely dont need wine to drill out a brake bridge. It’s easy and fun!
@bward1028 I’ll take em. Sounds great.
I feel like they’re poorly made tires that people put up with a lot from for some reason when a million way better tires exist.
Also once I crashed hard because I made the mistake of trusting a set of passelas going downhill on a road with an unexpected wet spot.
Was it the tires’ fault? Probably not but they let go like nothing I’ve experienced before or since and I lost a whole lot of skin because of it.
So I guess I’m biased but I don’t know why anyone would run panaracer when schwalbe and specialized tires exist.
I run non-TG Paselas because they’re fine and they’re, like, $20 each
Newish frame bag. Replaced Rotor stem with a stripped out bolt with a different Rotor stem. Put the soupless wheels back on for belated birthday dirt road ride.
Smanged a front fender, dynowheel and light and some decorations on the Bullitt. It’s starting to feel like my bike not just a bike I’ve been riding around.
what’s your dismount like on that thing?
I kinda like the mixte frame design on the Supermarche, but was pretty used to keeping the bike pointed forwards while hopping off the Edgerunner by throwing my right leg over the toptube, even with a squirming toddler trying to eject herself.
I just do a cross dismount like any other bike.
sup tarck, long time no see. got a laptop back in my life so i figured i’d pop in and say hi.
here’s my hardtail - it’s the closest i’ll ever have to a ‘forever bike’ and although it may someday get retired for a rowdy short travel trail bike, the frame would live on the wall or something. it was built by my boss and the ano/design done by my good friend and coworker, then by obligation had all the fanciest shit ever hung on it for the sake of being a show bike at last year’s philly expo.
the axis stuff is legit. i might revert the drivetrain back to something more humble someday if the need for cash arises, but the dropper stays forever. the pike ultimate is actually noticeably a bit smoother and more supportive than the rct3 i had on my honzo. the wheels ride great but i’m afraid i’m going to break them and had the motivation for colors been lesser, i’d rather have something with j-bend spokes for ease of rim and spoke replacement. the geometry is (shocker) exactly what i wanted and thereby does it ride real good.
that is an awzum tiny bike
yeah, that makes sense.
My first encounter with a cargo bike was an Edgerunner with a Yepp Maxi. I unthinkingly tried to swing a leg over it and wound up doing some unplanned bicycle acrobatics trying to get my foot out of the safety seat.

So true. I usually ride all winter on garbage. This year in November or December i put on a new set of 4ks. So… much… better. Grip is better, ride is better, and it’s quickly diminishing returns to try and improve on their flat resistance. Feel happy instead of sad.

that is straight flames.
just don’t ever forget that my cx/allroad bike that i’m stuck with as a forever bike helped get the mistakes out of the way for you
it can’t clear a road crank… still a great bike but he got some of the mistakes out of the way on my bike almost 10 years ago.
glad to see you back on here!
