as a treat
This warms my cockles.
me: give me 15cm of bar drop or give me death.
everyone besides catdrew and ergott: then you get death.
EDIT: I think my cx/gravel bike is like 11cm.
Quoting myself from up-thread:
What I am trying to communicate is that from our perspective, your teasing came off as odd rather than teasing.
Especially combined with this:
Considering Rapha with their âwhite men SUFFERING in lycra on a 30 degree dayâ aesthetic gained enough cachet to be bought by Walmart, I would say that there is nothing out of the ordinary about your perspective. It is Walmart-level popular. It is âTHE RULESâ popular. We know all about it!
signed, a guy that also definitely has a lot of drop on their road bike which hasnât been ridden in three years.
edit: also sorry, neither of our opinions are a big deal.
I can see why. I can assure you it was meant in jest. You mention âour perspectiveâ however, and Iâm not sure whoâs perspective youâre representing other than your own.
My penchant for suffering came before the Rapha bullshit, but your point is valid. Honestly, I enjoy the kind of cycling that I do because Iâm a bit of a masochist and I like to challenge myself to see what I can endure. Iâll also readily admit thatâs fucking weird and wouldnât recommend it to anyone.
Yâall do you. Ride what you like however you like. Tarck is about being friends.
Itâs not weird at all. I donât know a single road bike rider that doesnât feel this way.
Anyway, my late reply was purely an indulgence on my part.
N=1 but Iâm short, fat, and very opinionated.
the best thing about the internet is one can solicit feedback, or get it regardless, and then be an askhole about it either way
I knew there were others, I just couldnât think of them at the moment.
Digging up those pics made me regret for a brief moment selling all my plastic bikes in anger when I lost my job.
I need to sell this one last road bike before it is completely worthless, although maybe it has reached that state already.
You might have missed your shot this year, though the market might still be hot next season.
If I had held out until COVID I probably would have gotten twice as much for the stuff I sold.
I kept thinking that I should have one skinny tire bike to ride once in a blue moon, but then I realized that this would be an excuse to buy another one in the future.
Same exact thinking here.

The flats of the drops are below the saddle there.
but road biking saddle to bar drop is not even remotely similar to what you might do on even a rigid mtb
Methinks this is rather subjective.
