Needs more stems!

I just noticed the :watermelon: !

is this standard Audux geometry or a custom jobber

Presumably if it was a custom he wouldn’t have chosen the 180mm stem given all the options

Fredbieks transcend presumptions.

If your taller road bike does not have a longer stem you are t-rexing your fit. Road bikes don’t change wheelbase across the size range as much as they just get taller, so your stem needs to grow with the headtube just to keep your handlebars in the same place.

This currently has a 135mm -10° stem which is pretty normal for me. The bars are higher than usual, but the Runny Arse Maes Parallel handlebars have 115mm of reach which gives back a lot of range. I had initially set it up at 135mm +10° (+44mm stack -14mm reach) which was really interesting in a “Grant Petersen did nothing wrong” way that made the bike have more personality — so much room for activities!

I might switch back and forth for a bit, or try buying a 130mm 0° (+21mm -10mm) to see if that’s the goldilocks in making the bike feel special

Started riding for real on early 90’s hard tails so short stems look silly to me anyway. Nice build

Did some team sports this weekend.
Replaced the old DJ fork with a flexier but functional fork, converted from 3x9 to 1x11, strapped a baker’s dozen worth of bags to it, and aside from a less than effective rear shock lockout, it did great on gravel and some steep singletrack. Descending on this through rough terrain is wayyyy more fun than on our rigid cannondale mtb tandem.

That bag setup would be legendary but something is missing from this frame triangle!

is the clearance around the boom tube tight to the timing chain?

wow my extra stems were covering that I had only 10-15mm of saddle to bar drop

what a time to be alive

Pretty bike.

So true.

People always look at my bikes and make a stupid dick joke about my stems like “woah look at that stem, what’re you compensating for buddy”.

Well I’m compensating for how much further the top of my headtube is behind the front wheel buddy.

Why is TT length and toe overlap always discussed regarding customs if wheelbase is not really a variable?
