short tt + steep hta can put you into the ~danger zone~
My suspicion, based on setting up a lot of 62cm tt bikes over the decades, is that if you made a bike with 700c wheels that actually scaled to what a very tall rider would need to use a zero setback seatpost and a 90mm stem, you’d probably introduce a whole lot of other handling problems.
I think that this is something that people try occasionally - Peter Verdone “improved” the basic design of a road bike along similar lines a few years ago.

I took a picture of my bike as I took it home from storage. Maybe I’ll clean it, continue to try and make incompatible bars and levers work, and post another.
If only the extra longs weren’t so hard to find. At 6’2" with an XL mountain bike I kind of feel like that’s what I want, partly to make it more usable for tasks you normally wouldn’t use a DJ for.
why not lock it up? Ive had mine set up basically like that but with better choices about brakes, drivetrain, and dyno presence since I got it. Its heavy, ive gone through a whole wheelset already, but overall real nice. Lock it up.
It’s more about the situation than the bike. The fantasy for this is riding from home to the station to catch the train downtown, then lock it up somewhere there, the library, whatever. In reality, it’s way easier to drive the few miles to the station and just walk around downtown while having zero worry about the bike getting stolen. If I lived someplace closer to town that made riding in more realistic, that would be a different story. Locking up at the station would be even higher risk to it getting stolen.
Anyplace closer to home I’d want to lockup would be better done with a different bike, like the cycletruck.
