Ride it into the ocean and then return it because it isn’t a boat

This isn’t to diminish your purchase or anything but I’ve had this on my chest for a while. The back end of this bike bums me out so much. There are other ways to mount batteries and other integrated rack designs that would have made this bike look 100x more considered.

I do love that color and hope you really enjoy that bike though

It’s a bike. Nobody cares what bikes look like.

My main question with the e1.2, which at it’s current price is very tempting: what’s the deal with fenders?

The rear is rated for something like 60lbs, definitely more kid-carrier focused than anything else. Battery placement is iffy and I could see debris strikes or rain spray being an issue.

mountable!

The product listing is full of grief from people who want REI-sourced fenders, but VO mount just fine on mine (though a bit gappy, w/e). The only issue is that the frame doesn’t have what would be a brake bridge on a normal bike, for stabilizing the middle of the rear fender. I might fashion something that locks it to the rack above.

a sandwich of two plates like a kickstand mount could serve as a fender mount on the rear rack hoop, not as nice as a brazed tube though. I bet 3d printed ends with a hardware pipe would be nicer

Just add a second fender stay

Aluminum Male-Female Threaded Hex Standoff, 8mm Hex, 10mm Long, M5 x 0.80 mm Thread | McMaster-Carr

this is what I used to get two p-clamps to play nice on a single braze on

i used some amazon balloon fenders and VO hardware. will post pics in a bit

lo, i have returbed

was a pretty fun fender install actually. i don’t love my fork crown mount but it works

edit- these fenders
and i think i got 2 pairs of VO hardware to have 3 struts. helps that i’m in the tertiary bike industry.

Felt real squirrelly in the parking lot, but that’s just 'cause I’m used to my full squish slack 29er. Once on the pump track it ripped, felt great leaned way over on the 180deg corner.

Kiddo below in said corner:

(Seatpost is as low as it can go, was enough to get ok pumping action, if I keep it I’ll swap in something shorter for sure).

Traditional bend bars, nice. What are they? Also what saddle? Shape looks like a Aliante which is my jam but I could use some colors like that for a matchy match build.

Went for a ride. Watched some Cricket on my way home.
