I have your bike’s older sibling in 1977 Super le Tour 12.2way.
It’s been built in a bunch of different ways, although currently it’s hanging as a frameset in my house. Neat bikes, the .833 stem is a bummer but I have a few in different lengths I’ve collected over the years.
Nitto bars are cool but very pursuit-position. I kinda wanted a higher rise but my friend offered me these and I’ve always lusted after them so here they are… 45mi on this was RUFFF… Still looking for the perfect 20x3.0 slick tire
We have fallen in love with tandemlyfe so much that we got a much better tandem. This was owned by an old-head MTB boomer in town. His riding buddy went blind at a young age so they bought this together and raced it. Everything is in great shape - will clear 2.5 up front and 2.4 in the rear, but 2.1’s for now. Came with a magura hydro drag brake I removed because it was rubbing the bigger tires I put in. Incredible how much stiffer this one is compared to our cheap tandem. We love it.
Ohhh I love it! The paint is amazing, and the rim brake is probably unnecessary since you have discs. You can always upgrade those to hydro and get the ice tech rotors to dissipate heat
I must say, those are some aggressive saddle drop situations though!
Bigger icetech rotors and hydos are certainly on the table. We picked up the bike about an hour before the photo so the cockpits are a very poorly considered partsbin YOLO. Got a ways to go to call it done.
yeah. Said they maybe rode it 300 times? Thats a lot of dang rides with a buddy. He got all teary when he sold it, but was happy to see it go to a home where it would get used.
It came with a bunch of yellow hardware because his daughters called it the batmobile when they rode it.
Original fork has a very short ATC so the head tube is more like the length of a 63cm or 64cm frame at 210mm. That fork in there is actually from a 63cm 1985 Schwinn Tempo.
I haven’t ridden it yet but there’s a chance the saddle might go up a bit still.
