Dammit: Post your bike

Banned here, but still out there. Noisy, smelly, unsafe and usually ridden by menaces without any care.

Not legit scooters tho eh? Just the DIY strap-ons.

yeah, bicycles with motors strapped on are verboten now. licenced scooters are still permitted

FTFY

i hate maintaining two-stroke shit. why would anyone voluntarily put that on any object that doesn’t NEED one?

New Emonda ALR, slowly getting it in order. Stream of consciousness review:

  • Huge downtube hides my cage doubler perfectly. Just need to paint it black now
  • Swapped the 105 crank for the warranty Ultegra unit that King Braden processed for me :two_hearts:
  • Seatpost is mostly bad, two bolt yoke slips and needs extra torque. Ritchey 1 bolt incoming.
  • Bars are interesting, wider at the drops but not flared out, which I like a lot. Bontrager touch points constantly surprise me with how good they are for OEM stuff.
  • Fit is more aggro than the previous ALR I owned. Longer reach + big shifters + 80mm reach bars + long torso and not flexible = 70mm stem.
  • Geo is otherwise the same, nearly crit/track which is fun.
  • Quoted tire clearance is 28mm but measured is at least 35mm. 28s on there now, but I’d put 30/32s on in the future.
  • Shimano shifter bodies are the worst bike product but I’m trying to be content. I was ambivalent about 12s but its a lot better than I expected.
  • Hydro not giving me all of it. Modulation does nothing for my neanderthal self. I probably didn’t bed the pads properly since the bike shudders under certain braking pressures.
  • To do list still includes wiring up the IQ-X (which will hang under the K Edge), installing my old stages arm (just got replacement bolts), trimming cables and hoses so the internal entry is at the front of the head tube again, properly sized chain so I can big/big (oem crank was 50/34), and getting cleats fit (which will raise the fit prob 1cm)

All in all, a good bike.

Is that blinker stock ?

No, but it is a Bontrager light and mount situation. I really don’t like how far it stick out but it’s handy for walking the bike. 3d printing a tucked mount is something I keep thinking about

All in all it’s a good bike, I’m disappointed they made the new ALR models with headset cable tourism, even the internal cable routing for the RD is not the most elegant especially when changing housing.

I was Aethos 1 curious but a friend said it felt dull. Then they made the aethos 2 and fucked it up. I guess a x2 Crux is the only other S option.

Been riding the pine mountain a bit more this fall
Still really need to swap to 29" wheels and some lighter tires

(My friend took this photo so you all cannot see my driveside).

Also I’m not sure if they made improvements to the Emonda fork but it’s flexy under load especially out of the saddle side to side rocking. You might hear your rotors rub

So far so good. Legs on the new one are way deeper and straight.

Feels kinda indecent to post this picture.

This thing will be a great platform for custom racks someday.(once the ebike stuff stops working and I strip it all off and turn it into a regular bike.)

Answering the emonda ALR conch call (please ignore the edgy graffiti backdrop lol)

All in all, it’s a good bike.

  • Still on the *heavy* stock wheels and 105 group but now with a 34t cassette
  • 32mm gravelkings which I hate but refuse to die
  • tried 160mm cranks for a while but disliked the lack of leverage, back to the stock 170
  • 36cm bars for shoulder/wrist comfort

is this the smallest size they make?

if you’re talking about mine, it’s a 50cm so there’s one size smaller still

This is the previous model though. The new ones like chazzwazzer’s have a longer+lower fit across the board (H1.5 vs H2 geometry)

with that fit it just looks like a size down would be more appropriate

It’s possible, though the low and forward slammed saddle (if that’s what you’re seeing here) is the result of a midfoot position on thin flat pedals reducing leg reach and increasing effective setback by ~40mm compared to say, clipless with a more conventional cleat position. Looks very kooky, but not really anything to do with reducing my reach to the bars

I do like big setback on upright cruisy bikes though

roadie evolution circling back on itself

That bike is beautiful
Edit this is the only other pic I can find
What is that headbadge? A B?
