You’re asking a group of enablers on an obscure bike forum to enable you to rejoin another obscure hobby? Yeah bud. I’m looking forward to BP art water skis.

Dirty Fairlight
I got this SL-K -20/ ultra low stack slam stem and feel like it’s tying the whole build together. I feel like Fairlight has a consistent visual problem where the smushed tt looks out of scale with the massive tapered ht and whatever giant stem they installed. So i was into getting a stem that is also squashed.
it is so low stack that now I have a 25mm rustystack on top. it works great with my short legged body.

who knows how this will go

no body shaming intended but are your femurs that short that you’re fully forward on a straight chairpole?

also I feel like side load cages were developed for this application

Selle SMP has a lot of rearward bias and i spend lots of time in the aerobars with one assbone wedged in its nose. Mike Martin the canadian ultracycling guy and sometimes bc rando actually had a forward offset post for pbp IIRC.

he’s ahead of the memefit trend, lots of people scooching forward to get their hips opened up and/or get more aero

like in response to slack STA or on ‘regular’ geometry? that sounds like a problem shorter cranks can solve

it’s often in addition to shorter cranks - Andrew is spending lots of time on the extensions and roadies with increasingly narrow bars are getting ever more aero tukt

yeah his aeros are low and bars lower still so needing any hip angle you can get makes sense

This has been my experience too. When I first tried the SMP I mounted it in basically the same place as my old saddle, and it felt way too narrow and super stiff and awful. I scooted my butt back and then it was like a lightbulb went on. Once I slid the saddle forward a bit, it felt great.

I can squidge bottles out and back in using that 1cm of clearance under the framebag. I am thinking about going to 1L giga bottles for the st and underneath the tt and may have to revisit the side loading cages at that time.

the cages are a sort of rich grapelike Silca purp that was gifted to me but also doesn’t match any other purple anno on the bike. I contemplate replacing them but also kind of love them. they are without question good at holding bottles.

I would honestly like to try shorter cranks. It’s a financial thing because of my LHS crank power meter, and there is the additional issue that Shimano never made GRX 810s under 170mm. In the end it’s nothing that can’t be sorted out for $500 on marketplace but it has to go in the queue with everything else.

during the LA protests this year, I’ll never forget seeing a line of ~10 LASD SUVs racing at freeway speed down Cesar Chavez towards downtown, followed immediately by two homies on lawnmower bikes filming the chase on their phones

What’s a lawnmower bike?

check the story above, I always thought they were lawnmower engines and the article mentions pressure washers, but any 2-stroke with some oomph will do the job

Dang. Cool. I could get into that if I didn’t think that 2-strokes should be completely banned! That’s a pretty cool sub-culture.
