Is that the new Rivendell soma

are the cranks clocked just slightly off?

Kills the dead spot like an oval ring

Yes. Bless the PLP Patreon Soma discount.

Nah they’re in sync. Tho I’ve heard stories of people running them perfectly out of sync… which seems insane.

That’s weird, the arms don’t look parallel, like the captain’s crank is a little behind in rotation.

I was wondering what it would be like to ride a tandem where the timing rings don’t match, and you slowly go in and out of sync.

Had a friend do that and would pedal strike all the time

I’ll have to double check but we’ve never dropped a chain since I built it up and I triple checked when I built it.

I’ve run tandems a tooth or two out of sync so the power phase is less pulsey, but you’re not in curbfeeler mode with a pedal always down. It’s fine.

Okay so I looked closer and the cranks definitely are a tooth or two out of phase but I can’t for the life of me figure out why. I can’t remove the chain by hand, and we never have dropped a chain. So weird.

You can sorta sit down and pedal. I wish younger me wouldn’t have cut the post, but it looks pretty good with a slammed seat.

Going to see hope it handles the woods tomorrow

Wrapped this up today, came out pretty good might need some more decals. Not sure I like the stem after building everything around fitting -17° stems it looks strange. Maybe could go lower after riding it a bit.

Then of course there’s this. Ring is already spaced inwards 2mm will fuss with it some more too.
