Welp, I decided that the weight and bulkiness of a 2-speed kickback outweighed the fun. Back to single speeding it. I still like how this bike looks sans cables, but I need to stop sometimes so I just ran the rear brake. Love how smooth the ride is overall. Bag and basket situation is perfect as it fits everything needed for a workday or light shopping. I would love to turn this into a proper rando, but fenders with 25s ain’t gonna cut it for me. Might try to mock something up with drops and gears just to make sure, but yeah, can’t really imagine anything smaller than a 28 at this point.
Rode it into work this morning and was surprised that there were more cyclists than drivers on my route. Made for a pleasant morning.
Yeah this particular hub can run a little crunchy at times, and other times works perfectly. I’m hoping the right frame will come my way and that I can still use the hub. In the meanwhile, rebuilding the innards might be a fun project to do with my grandson.
Mama Lake feeling big this morning. Sure feels like fall. Sure feels nice to ride this bike with a non-broken rear wheel and fully functional brakes. Been a while!
Another morning commute on another fine fall day.
I got to evangelize cargo bike life to a dude who asked a bunch of questions and took a bunch of pictures.
Been enjoying riding bikes and not thinking about them much lately. Took the long way (3x tarck century) to drop off the third load of parts for donation and was reminded of one of my favorite walls. Absolutely zero regrets about buying this bike.
feel the same about my R&M Carrie. Occasional ‘I could use a larger cargo area’ thoughts but I practically never ride with the flex box locked open, so really, for my needs it’s perfect.
still seeking the perfect eurobox crates (but available in AU) to use in the closed/open setup.
Gyeshwhoo’in the new titanium handlebars. They smooth things out so much I barely even feel the knobs on the Nobby Nics. Granted, I was coming from a steel Stridsland Anchor with a crossbar, which is probably one of the stiffest bars you can get.
Rob’s studiophotos are on Instagram. He was outstanding to work with. And the precision of his machining on all the fiddly little bits for racks, fenders, and lights is the best I’ve seen.
She insists on pointing out that she has more bikes than this.
Gravel bike, road bike, light touring/travel bike. Yeah, the fits are all the same. 72 cm standover definitely constrains the design to 650b and sloping top tubes.
I apparently don’t have a photo of her MTB, but it looks like a MTB . Here’s something completely different.
it for sure faded over the years from the UV like on the top tube, I’m sure if I had hit it with clear it would have really popped again. I did some damage to the carbon over time and retired it last year
