Dangler wrangling

How about auto erotic asphyxiation? Seems like track teams should look into that!

Who knows about this? Can you turn your GRX shifters into friction by removing a pawl, like you would when converting a left hand shifter to dropper duties?

I’d only heard bad things about the gebla doohickey for Rohlof use but I dont know if the above is how you’d normally set them up.

From the Singular IG where dude uses GRX on his Kite to shift his Rohlof

no that is turning the GRX shakes into two dropper levers

the Gebla Rohbox always returns the cable back after each pull, and the normal way to use it is with SRAM Doubletap levers that are super easy to remove the pawl from

Gotcha! Thanks.

Dude I know swears he is shifting really cleanly on his 11 speed gravgrav with a GRX 12 speed SGS 1x dangler, with an 11-42 on the back and a 46/32 double on the front… A 1x specific dangler shouldnt be able to deal with that big of a jump on the front should it ?

Seems… plausible? It’s got the chainwrap for it (well, he’s blowing the spec by 2T but whatever). Sure, the offset upper pulley is going to be in wildly different positions wrt the cassette in either chainring. BUT, if you look at the RD-M8120 “2x” MTB derailleur, it’s got a pretty big pulley offset as well, and Shimano claims it’s good for 10T of front chainring difference.

I like the sound of this because it means I could have one dangler for both 2x and 1x. Im not sure I am a big fan of 1x, and shimano danglers are way less than half the price of sram in this country. 188$ vs 540$. And that’s without the added cost of the Ratio-tech cage to let it shift into a decent sized sprocket.
