yeah - said link is for a “gravel bike” so a far step from bikepacking, just thought of it due to @Eddbread’s reference to progressive mtb geometry and pvd’s bike being a ‘gravel bike’ with a 67 degree head angle and a 170mm dropper.
He’s clearly thought, designed and built a bike that suits his vision of a gravel bike, but it’s far from what the rest of the universe needs. That doesn’t stop him from proclaiming the rest of us are wrong. I take his opinion on many things with about as much humor as I do Juan Heiney.
Can someone translate his interest in those Canyon doublebars from PvD language to normal english?
Canyon bars pros: slam that stem x high bar position collab
Cons: integrated stem is literally Hitler.
Also con: no style points
Which is maybe a pro for pvd
they prevent your custom gravgrav frame from looking like a Fargo
or needing an even weirder LD stem (which he has done)
Aha yes much better for the front of your bike to look like an old timey airplane very smart very advanced
What sort of terrain are you planning to ride, and what kind of distance?
One of those Utes would make a great poopbarn rig for 1000k.
Land cruiser 70 and a tent atmo
71ht 73st 7.5bb drop
Lol beaten numerous times but was hoping I could be the first to recommend a car.
You might find this useful, at least for some comparisons. https://geometrygeeks.bike/
What’s the rear spacing? I measured the tandem @ 145mm. I probably ought to use this as an “opportunity” to convert to 700C, though.
Hey it’s only 25 years old, not 30!
We take the tandem to the farmer’s market and to work sometimes. haven’t gone up OLH (or anywhere in the mountains yet) but would like to at least try sometime.
What’s the rear hub? It might be worth thinking about switching to 36 hole wheels so you have slightly better selection of rims.
130?
Are you running a drum brake?
