Did you just ShartQ?

all pressfit everywhere?

?

Looks like they might actually work out on the coffee grinder with 70mm drop and I want to run the fattest 700c tires I can fit in there which will help me keep the pedals off the deck. Too bad I’m still several months away from starting to order up parts for it.

I only have one other bike that could ever be considered a ā€œroadā€ bike and it already suffers from pedal strike with 170mm cranks.

What’s a good budget Wald 137 basket bag? Wasn’t there a military surplus bag on Amazon or something?

the sleep system carrier

Cheaper options

I have both the sand and forest versions of that and maybe it was just my copy but the sand one’s water proofing made the interior kinda gummy. Both are waterproof as fuck though.

I have a Troutmoose roll top and it’s pretty plain and simple. Fits the basket well, holds stuff, seems sturdy, and about half the price of most other basket bags.

I have the third one, and other that being hideously ugly, I can’t really find a fault with it. It’s rather big, but if that’s what you’re after, then it’s better than every boutiquey version of the same thing from the usual makers.

Been testing three 137/2 bags, and the Troutmoose is my favorite.

I recently acquired an old Schwinn Duosport tandem. Is it recommended to use compressionless housing with U-Brakes, or do you want the compression like with caliper brakes?

Standard brake cable housing is fine. Is it one of the lugged Duosports?

Yes it is! Missing some parts and has two driveside cranks in the back, but was an absolute steal at $250 and ā€˜sup is just excited to ride it as I am.

If you have the 990 bosses moved/swapped and the chainstays crimped it can fit 650b x 47 tires.

Among the many oddball things about them, the headset is BMX sized. With some dithering you can probably put a 1 1/8" fork on it.

Move the bosses? Oh you must mean adding disc tabs.

It clears a 160 disc in the rear, and on mine the rear seatstays at positioned just right so that one of the disc tabs I have would have aligned with almost no modification.

Have Orange Troutmoose, do like.

Think you could cram a 15" laptop with sleeve on the diagonal into any of those and close the bag?

Good question.

The basket itself is probably the limiting factor as far as width (i.e. diagonal). The Dark Realm bag is the tallest if that helps.

I’d be concerned about how high the laptop comes up out of the basket. I’d like for my laptop to not be the first thing that hits the ground if I crash or just accidentally drop my bike while locking up.

I’m kind of excited for when the backpack renaissance starts. ā€œguys, did you know that you don’t have to bodge together a massive pile of parts and accessories to carry your computer? There’s this thing that’s like a basket, but it goes on your body!ā€

Back sweat is real. I do want to try one of those osprey packs that is lifted off the back though.
