And there’s almost always one proprietary bullshit ‘advanced technology’.
I’ve never actually owned one so don’t know. I do find the 1/2 degree flip chip things kind of funny. Like who the fuck are you that you’re gonna feel that lol. Gimmick.
Same. Nice to see an actual XC fs bike that isn’t $4000. I wish one of my brands made this.
They have actually shied away from proprietary stuff since the old yokes and 142+ spacing (kinda a pre-boost with drive side out 3mm, but only worked on their frames). I think that was the same time frame as some crux wheelsets that were odd, too. And thankfully they have ditched the brain. But xc racers deserve all the annual sending off of that shock if they bought one.
New Genie shock on the Stumpy 15 is just something they developed to achieve a particular feel. And I will say it rides really nice. But they also spec an Ohlins coil on one model that others also enjoyed, so you can ride whatever 210x55 shock you want.
Sounds like the frame is very linear so you need a particular kind of tune on your shock to make it ride as designed? Though I feel like there are plenty of other linear progression suspension frames out there.
I mean, yes, it does read that way, but I am not sure if the Ohlins does anything like the RS hydraulic bottom out that would work. But also, you buy a bike because it works as a bike most times, no?
And most of the other riders on said coil were undersprung for their weight and they still had a great time and raved about it. dunno.
I’m looking for some tools, I can’t remember who makes them. There was a website and it was a dude that made really basic and inexpensive bike tools, I think they were mostly bearing press tools. They were very home mechanic quality and just came with the adapters and you needed to provide your own threaded rod and nuts I think?
Also just generally looking to setup my home shop to work on modern bikes and any other suggestions on cost effective tools for building and servicing modern gravel and road bikes. Mainly need stuff for installing and servicing BB and hub bearings.
I can’t remember what other piecemeal ones were out there relatively cheap.
That’s totally not the one I was thinking of but I really like it! Looks better than the one I was thinking of.
I was joking above but I did get this kit and it does the job https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B094ZMX68V/
I also have that. Havent used it yet.
Should get some sort of bearing puller.
I know the ebike rear hub needs new bearings. If it is like another shimano hub, i will need to use old bearings to push new one in over the axle.
Wait, I thought e-bikes didn’t need any maintenance ever. One guy I know who rides an urban arrow to drop off his kid at school said he has 2000 miles on the original chain. Seems like way too much for such a huge bike. The chain on my Bullitt wears out much faster than that and it’s a lot less bike with no motor.
I peeped his drivetrain and oof, it’s roached.
best possible outcome of carbrain atmo. the e-cars don’t need oil changes. maintenance free!
I should probably get something better, but it does the job.
So exactly how stretchy are butyl tubes? I put some 20x4” Super Moto-X tires on the RemiDemi this morning, and they’re quite a bit larger in volume (but close on width) compared to the 4.25” stock tires. Just being curious I looked at the size range on the stock tubes. They’re 2.75-3.0”.
Fuck it, had the tubes already so they got replaced.
Bearingprotools.com? I got the headset stuff and a custom puller from him. Good stuff.
Did they recently up their quality? That looks like what I remember but way more polished and finished than I remember
Dunno, I got mine about a year ago. The handles seem fairly low finish quality and they take a fair amount of force to use, but the guy clearly knows his stuff and prices very reasonable for a all in one kit.
