Does anyone know a GPS routing tool where you can make a GPX file with average speed? Bikeroutetoaster used to be able to do this but it’s been gone a long time.
I’d like something for rando rides next year when I can make a route at a specific speed and then once I’m riding the little arrow will tell me if I’m above or below that speed so I don’t have to do much paying attention and mental math.
The crown race just slides onto the steerer. It looks like there are three bumps molded into the steerer to keep the crown race snug and centered. I greased everything up and put it back together. I’ll take it for a test ride this afternoon.
For a while the bike has been creaking when stand up and climb particularly steep hills (like Trail’s End). If it tightened the headset a bit, the creak would go away but eventually return. Yesterday it was creaking like crazy, then stopped completely after I got caught in a downpour.
I like the idea of getting a new headset but, holy cow, integrated headset specs are confusing.
DQ: TCX is gonna take a long while to get replaced from Giant, from what I’m told. I wanna build something up with 2x grx and have it be more gravel and then I never have to do anything to my tcx. Looking at a Squid Gravtron. 40c is the biggest I really need, but if there’s an option with more clearance in a similar pricerange, I could be into it.
On carbon? You’re the last person I’d think might recommend such a fix!
@paris others might be able to speak to this with more experience but I’ve found that there aren’t that many types of crown races out there if we’re talking about like a pretty generic headset here.
You’re probably right. This is my first bike with an integrated headset so I don’t really know what I’m looking at. The top is a standard-looking cartridge bearing. The bottom is a little funky and the crown race might actually be part of the bearing that just rides on the fork crown.
And after a lot of headset dithering the creak is louder than ever. The only thing that consistently stops the creak is riding in the rain so maybe I’ll just periodically spray the whole bike down with my water bottle
yeah but i think that $1300 includes a $550 whisky fork and a musa headset. which puts the frame at $700ish and i’m pretty sure surlys cost that much nowadays.
sounds like it should work with any course, however, the pace is no specific to the course. you have to set it on the device.
i am not familiar with any device getting this out of a gpx file, though gpx files from actual rides do have time stamps so maybe it was just putting them in. not entirely sure.
