Does tubeless matter? Considering going with American Classic 101 rims on the Force build and sticking with Archtype for lower levels (or 101 as upgrade). They are lighter (70g less per rim than Archtype), don’t have the max pressure problems with tubes that Stan’s rims have, and work very will for tubeless cross applications.
2 downsides: slightly harder to change a flat if running a tube, would increase price by about $40

As for tubeless/not: who do you see as the main person buying one of these? It seems like a bike nerd’s wet dream bike to me, so from that end I think the kind of person interested in the frame would probably be the kind of person willing to deal with / wanting to go tubeless.

eeeeaaaaaant. wrong.
I’m sorry the answer we were looking for is that due to the inner ridges on the AC rims that are designed to sandwich the bead between them and the hook (and to avoid stan’s patent) it takes a far greater amount of pressure than expected to fully seat the tire when changing a tube. Has nothing to do with actually taking the tube in and out. Can prove quite annoying if you are using a hand pump on the side of the road.
I have built up a few sets of these now for customers and shop bros, some for trail use and some with wider street tires. I have mounted several tires in the 700x28-35 range with tubes when setting base tape and mtb tires as well. In most cases it takes well over 60psi to get all of the bead to seat with or without soap.
Also re: Hetre X China carbon collabo… good luck. I have a few of those rims in now and have built up one pair as 29er trail wheels so far. Tire/rim interface is OK at best. Bead does not lock into place nearly as well as Stan’s or AC rims. The 650b rims I have from the same place don’t look like they will be any better for this purpose.

Both the shimano and avid ones work great with compressionless housing and proper attention to setup.

fack, stan’s rims are already annoying enough to fully reseat the bead on trailside without Co2, having to inflate over 2x would drive me crazy

light-bicycle changed their design for the 650b ones, will see how that pans out
The bead shelf is def tall enough that you can’t get a tire mounted without pushing the bead into the center channel the whole way around. The bead hook isn’t as short as it is on a Stan’s rim, but that also means a split-tube rim strip remains an option.

Post pics and measurements of the inside of that rim. I have some here too from a different distributor I want to compare to. The 29er ones I got are the same thing for sure.
