felt tk2 or tk3

does anyone know a way to get JUST the frame? perferably looking for the price of a 2009 felt tk3 56/58cm frame. i looked online, i gaggled, etc. et al.

HALP ME!

todd

(p.s. I love you all!)

the TK3 is exactly the same as the previous TK2…
just with glossy paint

the new ('09) TK2 is the hottness

yes it is but where can i aquire just the frame? i dont want their shit components!

Don’t buy it. Your wife will kill you.

the components really aren’t that bad. (on the tk2 that is.)

anyway, I went into my local felt dealer and asked about ordering just a frameset a few months ago. the dude called felt and they said they’re not selling it as a frameset. doesn’t mean it can’t be found somewhere though I guess.

Don’t these come with 75s. Are 75s shit to people now?

Oh yeah and the crostini wheels.

i thought they came with really decent parts, except for the wheels. it still sucks if you can’t buy a frame. see if you can get a shop to strip one and sell the parts separately, they’re pretty tarck bits and should have no trouble selling.

WRONG. The 2009 TK3 is not the same as the 2008 TK2. I own a 2008 and have seen and inspected both the 2009 TK2 and TK3.

The new TK3 is a bit like the original TK2’s but with some big changes. The fork is the same but has a chro-moly steering tube. The welds are not smoothed. And the biggest change is the rear triangle. They use a different tubing for the seat stays than on the the previous TK2’s and the 2009, and the same for the chain stays as the 2008. The rear wishbone is different and subsequently not as stiff. They did however use the longer track ends of the 2008 with steel plates. The TK3 also features a new, and somewhat tacky in my opinion, glossy black and red paint job.

The new TK2 is actually a lot like the 2008 TK2 with a sexy black and white gloss paint job. The fork is the same and seems to use an aluminum steering tube like the 2008. The welds are smoothed as the 2008. The geometry is the same. The seat stays and wishbone are the same. The differences I found were the obvious change in the seat tube to a more “aero” one. And the chain stays actually seem to be a bit wider tubing (I’m guessing for stiffness). They have also shortened the track ends a small amount on the 2009 TK2 from the 2008 TK2’s length.

So in turn, the 2009 TK3 < 2008 TK2. And the 2009 TK2 > 2008 TK2 but not by much.

Obviously this is all concerning the framesets and not the components. Those changes are obvious.

pwned

Looking at my 2009 Felt price sheet they only list the TK1 as a frame only option.

man, what a bunch of bullshit felt, well fine, i’ll get something else! ,.|…

Is this going to be for track or tarck? Felt sells the curbside/dispatch frame as the gridlock for $400.

Yeah, if its for tarck purposes the TK2 is pretty extreme of a bike. I have a 2008 frameset I’m selling because I hurt my knee and cant ride the track for a bit and don’t feel like riding it on the street. It has an extremely tight cockpit, tight clearances, and a stiff rear. Its killer for sprints, but around town I could only imagine riding one a size up from what I usually ride.

the top of the seatstay is a slightly different.
but the geometry is the same in all aspects. and has been since at least 2007.

is your stock drivetrain on your '08 all 3/32"?

Yes the geometry is the same but there are diferences in materials, tubing shape and size, design, construction, and finish. If i show you a steel bike with the same geometry as the old TK2 can I say its exactly the same? If you are going by your argument the 2009 TK2 is exactly like the 2008. In literal terms, its closer than the TK3 is. Have you seen one in person yet? or are you just going off pictures from there website?

im going off of what ive read.
so, no i didnt look at the “sexy gloss black and white paint jobs” in person, or the smoothness of the welds. you got me there.
as far as the welds go. im sure they are just as well done as they are on any year TK2. i bet they even used the same wire speed and voltage as any other year

the materials are the same.
i thought they were all T6-6061 AL?
yes, the steerer is different. the difference between an alum steerer and a chro-mo steerer are so minimal tho, its not even funny. thats 6 inches of 1.125"OD 16G metal. lol

if you find another alum frame with the exact same dimensions i bet it would be pretty similar

Were gonna nickle and dime ourselves here. The point I was trying to get across was there are more similarity between the 2008 TK2 and the 2009 TK2 then the 2009 TK3. And the paint job is very sexy in person indeed if you’re into that style.

ok, agreed.
i do see some differences in the chainstays over the different years now that i didnt see before.

but the areo seattube of the new TK2 is hot.

that is all

it doesn’t look as fetish attach-ish
