I know we’ve discussed 'em, but I couldn’t find any decent detail. What are some floor pumps that don’t suck? I have the Lezyne CNC Floor Drive, which is awesome. They also make the Alloy and Classic versions, which I assume work just as well and are a bit cheaper, but are still kinda pricy for some. What else is good?
i have a $20 serfas pump that works just fine but my wife has trouble after >60 pounds.
also, LIFE TIME WARRANTY.

Ditto.
I’ve had a park for 6 years or so that’s never had a problem
I had a Specialized Air Tool that was a complete POS and one of the worst cycling products I ever used. Finally I took it to a friend at a Specialized dealer and he swapped it for a newer one, which is awesome and trouble free.
A good pump has to be heavy. I can’t stand the ones in our shop that are light and fucking fall over like it’s their job.
I havent owned a floor pump in several years. I think i might buy one soon, this thread is pertinent to my interests.
I have a Silca floor pump that I inherited from my dad. It’s from the 70s (?) and he used it a lot. I haven’t done anything to it except replace the wear parts about a year ago. I’m pretty sure the new ones are built identically
WTH? Hand pump for everything?!
I’ve had an old Silca Super Pista for years:
- goes to stratospheric pressures for road tires
- takes forever to move enough volume for mtb tires
- the valve seal takes a beating with threaded valve stems, works better with smooth valve stems (Michelin tubes)
- parts available to replace anything on the pump
- pressure gauge readings are pretty close to my digital gauge
- clampless head is not easy to use for non-bikey people
Dirt Rag reviewed the SKS aircon for mtbs a few months ago and gave it positive marks.

I had the airtool comp and it sucked. Replaced it with the chrome pro model and I’ve had it about five years with no problems.
Also, this whole thread is some bikeforums bullshit. We have the dumb questions thread so we don’t load page one with asinine polls and which one is better threads.
got the specialized airtool pro in red colorway
works good for filling up tires pretty quick
sharp on the bottom in case you need to swing it around and cut someone (also good for slicing open your fingers when transporting it the first couple times)
lever on the back smacks me in the thumb every time with a good amount of force
have not tried it with larger tires or schrader valve yet
Have a nice Silca that has needed replacement parts for about 2 years now. I use a Wrench Force that I’m really not even sure how I acquired. I’ll probably never even replace the Silca parts because I don’t pump up any tubes with the presta head, I use a schrader adapter ALWAYS.
I’ve had the spesh comp for like 5 years and it works fine. Before that I had some shitty $20 chinese floor pump from the “commuter” bike store that use to rip out valve stems like nobodies business. It eventually exploded into 1000 pieces of plastic and metal shards after going over the 100psi printed on the gauge.
Lesson: Don’t by a cheap shitty pump coz it’s something you use all the time.
I have some Specialized shit from the last two years. Actually, no wait I don’t . I bought the $15 hose/smart head from SpeciaLized and put it on whatever shit pump (Blackburn?) I had. Works great.
bought a Serfas at a yard sale for $5 a couple weeks ago. It’s blue. Works good with no work on my part. It’s my downstairs-in-the-barn pump now.
I have a Topeak Joe Blow Sprint. It was on sale. It gets my tires to where I want them to be just fine. It falls over some, but it’s probably my cats that are at fault more than the pump.
Have a Joe blow sport, does the job of inflating tires. Have some double barrel Topeka at the shop that’s supreme, but it’s 150ddollars…
Had an old Silva that worked well. Base was too small and it kept falling over. My dad dropped a box on it and crushed the gauge, so whatever

Yup. I’ve broken a couple bad floor pumps, but the two hand pumps i’ve had forever are awesome, so I just havent felt the need to get a new floor pump. I dont ride fast enough to care if I’m getting all the way to 120psi. I figure if I get above about 75 i’m fine.
I love my joe blow sprint. I wore out a seal once and replaced it in 1 minute with no tools. I’ve taken apar the heads on the ones at the shop a few times and every time it’s painless and easy.
Lezynes are moderately more trouble to rebuild, though the new pump heads that let you release the air pressure in the hose but not the tire are pretty nice. You know, so it doesn’t take your removable valve cores out with it.
I have a joe blow max (i think, maybe its a sprint) that has worked just fine for about 6 years. I broke part of the plastic top cap when I rebuilt it, so the top is held on with a big glob of duct tape. Looks like shit but it still works great. My only complaint is that the handle feels really flimsy. I’d like to get a lezyne but as long as the joe blow still works it isn’t worth the money to me.
