I’m not a fan of the constant arch of the ritchey forks. They are the smoopy things I was suggesting to avoid. They imitate the shape of a metal fork without being metal.
yeah, the more it looks like a Colnago Star, the better
Any thoughts on whether there is any room for an alu steerer fork in this spec?
I’ve found an existing mold I think can be tweaked a bit. Not far off from this thing that already exists:
But I’m pretty sure I can beat that both in weight and price.
The Niner is ~600g IIRC. That fyxation fork is almost in the the same class as a steel fork.
also, the niner is tapered and has enormous over-stiff legs.
atmo the only selling point of an alu steerer is the ability to rustystack and potentially a cost savings. If you’re able to come down to the 600g range and match that cost in full carbon you have a winner.
how did this go?
I saw someone on a Rodeo Spork the other day, racked up and damn he was fast.
Lack of funds and sidetracked with other stuff mostly.
The alu steerer version is definitely out, that factory wasn’t interested in my quantities and said they were phasing out alloy steerer forks.
woah how did I not see this before?
9/8" full carbon would be the way to go, and just in the last couple months I’ve noticed a few new weird asian designs poop out of nowhere: https://www.ebay.com/itm/122876715434 https://www.ebay.com/itm/122716590588
the Ritchey approach with the integrated crown race to get an ersatz taper is so nice
I’m real busy too but let’s chat sometime in the next couple months, this is something I really want to exist in the world
Max tire width is 23mm tho
We need that 28mm clearance
First link is to a narrow fork; second link is to a wider one.
First link is a road fork (367 AC)
Second link is a mtb fork (424+ AC)
We need that sweet sweet 372 AC
Second fork is hideous though.
If you browse ebay’s suggestions from those forks you end up with a HUGE variety of cheap carbon forks of varying A-C and clearances (including a 370/700×28c road disco fork for $85.) If you’re feeling lucky it’s a whole new world of cheap inexpensive china carbon out there.
I’d put that first one on a go fast roadie.
I’m curious about this on Dayruiner…just not sure if I’m 590€ curious
HY it’s 15mm. I could use existing wheels
WTH it’s 15mm. 600€ for a deadender fork?
might be worth checking with @EndpointBraden about when the Nite Moves fork will be shipping. 9/8 deadender wiggle fork.
I’m already committed to fucking up my Nite Moves with some nonsense from Whisky because I don’t need low trail.
It’s 1,000 dollarydoos here which I could probably put towards a used caad 12
