Spent 3 weeks touring in swrve durable cotton cigarette shorts with uniqlo seamless undies. Was a good combo, no chafing or saddle sores. Mildly swampy after a long hot day, but I think the shorts are the main offender there. (heat tech and airism tees depending on the weather, were great.)
Like these I think:

Can only imagine the airism undies would be even better.
uniqlo airism boxerbriefs are the best. exoffico waffle texture turns into a chafe-machine and dries slower.

Bontrager Race Lite Aero. Med drop, med/long reach, and super oval (comfy) tops. Fairly heavy cuz alloy but I am super happy with them - have them on two bikes currently. Retail is somewhere $90-100.
Also Zipp Service Course 70 and SL 70 ergo bars, FSA wing compact/pro, Ritchey streem (though Ritcheys are gross ergo bends).
edit: also backing Icebreaker Anatomica briefs, I wear these every day and am very happy with them. Upside is they’re super light weight, downside is that means they’re a bit delicate - I have several pairs I’ve had to stitch a hole in or fix a waistband separation after being too rough on them after 2yr of ownership.
I find uniqlo undies to be too thin and the sweat more uncomfortable in them than my merino stuff. If you want to ride long days without a chammy you need to think about the saddle/shorts/undies as a system.
I got some nerd shorts on clearance at rei. They make me worry a lot less about my undies situation because they help the whole area dry out so quickly
Fair enough – I should add that this is with a brooks or selle anatomica + techy shorts (outlier, etc)
Cool, Just ordered a pair of those cuz so cheap and Uniqlo FINALLY has a couple Arism undies back in stock in my size. I kept checking in periodically all winter but they must be a seasonal offering.
The Arism boxers I bought last summer are pretty good for day to day hot weather riding but the cut (see: bunching) wasn’t great for long distance use. My 3 year old cigarette shorts which are much tighter than my brand new cigarette shorts seem to keep the the Arism boxers in their place, new shorts aren’t tight enough so they tend to ride up.
The synthetic boxer briefs you linked above appear to be a nice cut in between their low rise Arism & normal brief. Excited to try.
People round these parts also diggin’ uniqlo airwhatever shorts lately. Worth a try at $30.
Need another bar recommendation:
ISO short reach, shallow drop bars that are available in 36 or at least 38 width. Would really like carbon, since they’re going on my fancy carbon bike, but apparently women can’t be choosers. I’m running Salsa F2s (I think that’s the model name? They don’t make them anymore, and I’m not at home so I can’t check) on my current road bikes. I like the shape a lot, but they’re relatively heavy, and, well, not made anymore. I see Bontrager has a few options that might be worth checking out, but I wonder if anyone has anything else they’d recommend.
The Bontragers check all your boxes. Women’s-specific ergonomics, carbon, etc. Everyone loves to hate Trek, but their Bontrager stuff doesn’t get nearly the respect it deserves. It all looks great and performs even better. Plus, you probably know shop people who can hook you up.
Do they do aluminum as well? Been basically looking for this too.
zipp makes all their carbon stuff in 38. They make all their service course/alloy down to 36
The sl might be what you are looking for.
Specialized has lady-specific carbon bars down to a 36 as well.
Do you guys* stock those on the regular?
*You’re at River City, yes?

Not anymore. I’m a bicycle-themed office drone now.
But as of last year, yes they carried them. They also make special orders (and returning them if necessary) pretty drama-free.
Which 11-speed chain tool should I get (for shimano chains)?
Have fenders been discussed? It’s for my schwinn with 25s and fender mounts. Bright colors are appreciated.
And there’s a whole fender thread.
Any old chain tool should work for that. I use the Park pocket chain tool for everything from 8 to 11 speed Shimano
Ah cool, didn’t know if there was some magic involved for 11s. Already have a 10s tool, thanks for the tip!
