the shimanos look sick but they are like 800g per shoe
That’s the weight per pair (~150g more than the xc90), and the cheaper trail shoes from shimano are actually lighter because of less protection
ah ic, i was figuring them to be much heavier, considering thats what my vr70’s weigh. I’m gonna shoot for those, but really it comes down to what Shimano has/if they give me a bro-deal

I think I got them on s-tec promo.

I’ve used them with shimano trail pedals and xc pedals (like m530s and m520s), and some vp trail pedals that use spd cleats. To be honest I haven’t noticed having that surrounding metal on the trail pedals aids much in any way while clipped in, but it is nice having a little more platform when you’re starting on steep and/or loose terrain and you want to throw the middle of your foot on the pedal to start getting power down to get moving.

I know there’s a few osprey pack fans here, any of you skinnytall?

looking at an osprey exos 48, my torso length puts me solidly into a large, but I have a ~28-30" waist which is right at the edge of what they indicate (29-55" on unisex packs for a large). can’t mix and match waist belts, and the only stockist of osprey in town doesn’t stock them. (might be able to try another unisex L pack of theirs though tomorrow.)

i’m 5’9 142lb and a 30" waist. i have an osprey poco plus (as well as a few others) and i was worried about the same thing with the hip belt. i’d say i could be 2-3" skinnier for sure and still not have an issue with the hip belt being too long. there is a lot of strap dangling but obviously you could shorten that. i love the pack. i also have a talon 22 that i’ve had for 10 years and the sizing on that is a little more skinny-guy friendly but still tons of hip space for the ultra thin people.

Went and tried a large atmos yesterday, ran out of strap and could have pushed the waist belt over my hips still. :frowning: need to find a medium and see if it’s long enough otherwise they’re a no go unless I get fat. (I’m a bit taller and a bit lighter than you.)

get fat blakey
feels good sometimes

buy one, cut the straps, and send it back to them to repair it. or email them and ask if they can just sew one up a little shorter for you.

Would purchase pastry treats just to see this.

but the problem is that the padded belt parts are too big. so reefing in all the strap until belt touches buckle touches belt doesn’t get it tight enough.

Think I’m going to have to wait on this one a while until I can try the exact model in a med & lg on IRL (aka next time I go to Melbourne) and see if either are long enough and svelte enough.

what non-padded, non-cotton, less-chafey undergarment do people like for wearing under ‘normal’ shorts/pants and biking around town?

I like the REI synthetic underwear. Similar to the Ex-Officio stuff, but without the FUPA cut and 90s mom jeans high waist.

I have some synthetic underwear I got from Target years ago. I save it exclusively for when I’ll be on the bike for a while, so it has lasted a very long time. I also have some of these Mavic Stratos undershorts (with the best photo ever), and they really are far and away the best option for normal clothes and undershorts (though they are padded). I think they’re discontinued, though.

I picked up two pairs of Icebreaker Men’s Anatomica Wool Briefs in March. I’ve been pretty happy with the result and expect to be even more happy once summer rolls around.
I haven’t worn briefs since elementary school and they are pretty good for cycling in tight shorts. No more dealing with boxer briefs riding up and bunching in the corners. The wool aspect is great and TC: this is my second day in a row wearing them and they don’t smell at all (research for multi-day bike camping).
the edges of the underwear in the butt/saddle interface are sewn really flat but sometimes I can feel them rubbing slightly depending on how my hips are rotated.
They seem pretty durable so far but long term durability report will have to wait. I wash them in the washing machine but I air dry them on a rack.

TC: I am still wearing some boxers my mom bought on the street 10 years ago before I left my country

I wear some adidas compression shorts I bought in high school. mostly for the dong position management

I bought 100% into Under Armor Boxerjock undies since moving to Texas. Good support for the boys and my ass has had a significant reduction in swampiness. Also fit my thunder thighs pretty good. They are pricy but you can find ugly colors on sale and they are still cheaper than the wool undies. I have a couple pairs of the synthetic REI boxer briefs but they are a little short for my current tastes and don’t fit my legs quite as well.

Spent 3 weeks touring in swrve durable cotton cigarette shorts with uniqlo seamless undies. Was a good combo, no chafing or saddle sores. Mildly swampy after a long hot day, but I think the shorts are the main offender there. (heat tech and airism tees depending on the weather, were great.)

Like these I think:

Can only imagine the airism undies would be even better.

Rec me some road drops. I have some China knockoff 3T Ergonova Team bars with a sort of ovalized/flat top that’s pretty comfy, but the bars are crooked af. Lesson learned.

Any other sub $100 bars with a flat oval whatever top?

Underpants : ex officio boxer briefs are better than REI house brand, but only if you happen to get a batch made with the soft fabric, not the scratchy stuff. Total gamble, I think.
Handlebars: tornova? Aerotundo? 3t, well under a hundred for alloy.
