idk anything (iknorite) about mountain bikes. i want something i can ride on a bit of dirt and not scare of flat. get me into how to size a mtb frame for solsize. how big they do get? i want biggest (thats what she said) right? disc/canti (is that even a question?) mech vs hydraulic disc brack? rigid vs hardtail vs fs?
Fully rigid is silly retro grouch bullshit. Hardtails are good for learning how to MTB without relying on full squish, so if you’ve never ridden MTBs before, get a hardtail.
^what im thinking. hardtail looks to be the winnar. how big do they get? what kinda measurements? i know road bike i need custom (unless some 70s gaspipe vintage roadie)
so i NEED hydro disc? or i do not want hydro? all ive ever heard was bearded ian whining about hydro disc. but im mechanically inclined so i can prolly figger it out?

Yes. He’s saying you need them.
Depending on your budget a stock bike may not be available with hydros, but as long as it’s running discs you can upgrade from there.

get the fuck outta here dude. i have you on ignore but gave you the benefit of the doubt and viewed your post. my mistake, never again.

I would start by trying to get on a 23" frame and seeing if that’s too small. AFAIK, that’s the biggest size any major brand makes in production frames. Naturally, different brands’ 23" frames will be somewhat different, but see if you’re in the ballpark.
Hydro dicks (good ones, at least) make life many times better than v brakes or even good mech discs. Braking later = riding faster. The main pain in the ass with hydro dicks is dealing with dot fluid.
Find a decent complete with a decent fork and good brakes and you’ll be set.

Bwahahaha. Sol demanding to be taken seriously. I’m not sure why you guys bother. He’s going to disregard every last morsel of advice because he knows better than you despite starting another fucking dumb question thread.

not poverty, as i have more saved for a rainy day than 50% of americans, but a 29er isnt going to make me money, so why spend thousands on it? hell, i hardly ride the bike i currently have
